There’s a good reason I own a VP - it’s a great bass for the price. There’s an even better reason I own two Grecos - they are great basses at any price!

I'm having trouble following the logic of this thread. Are Grecos good or not? There seems to be some uncertainty here.

One of my buddy's was at that show, he's opening for the last night of our residency this Friday. It sounded pretty damned good!

Visited my HO train buddy on Saturday, his current project - '65 GTO

I'll give him $500 for that GTO. (I've come to terms with never being able to afford one. It's fine, really).

Wonderful but I never quite understand 3 carbies on a V8. 3 on a straight 6…. Yes, makes sense. Shouldn’t the V8s be 2 or 4? (Like a Thunderbird).

Didn’t a 70s Alfa have 6 singlethroat Dell O’orto carbies on a V6 ? ?The first Alfa Six sedan?

Didn’t a 70s Alfa have 6 singlethroat Dell O’orto carbies on a V6 ? ?The first Alfa Six sedan?

Didn't quite have room for 4.
But they did figure out how to mount dual quads.

If you could only have one bass, which would you keep? Yeah, I know, this is Thanos-level bad stuff.

I was fortunate enuff in 73 to find/be found by my 1967 NR Thunderbird. I've used it for everything from piano/drums/bass 'jazz' trios through rock of various genres to Big Band to concert band(w/ flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, bassoons, etc.). It does it all with adjustments on EQ on the amp; tone on the bass. One trick pony my @$$.

I'm glad it's a choice I don't have to make, though eventually I will sell them all because I won't be able to play them anymore. The white '89 would the last to go, most sentimental attachement.

Sorry. I should have been more specific. Between the Early Bird & the Greco, which would you keep? While you're still gigging (or at least giggable (ahem)).

I saw that earlier. I don't really consider that VG condition; those blemishes aren't all so minor.

Do those look like original pickups?

That used to bug me, too, but the carbs all multiplex into a single manifold, which then demuxes into N cylinders. You might get some minor distribution wonkiness, but with good design, the pressure is constant across the cylinders (which aren't all pulling at the same time, anyway).
