Thunderbird Club

That would be awesome! Anything I need to be part of the club other than my T-bird?

Ok, some patience is going to be required, it's somewhere WAY back many pages. I have to do some looking.

Okay. Briefly, you are generally called out to run naked through a very public place in your town, city, what have you, screaming at the top of your lungs "THUNDERBIRDS RULE!!" from the time you enter the area and well after you have run through the area.

There are options to the ritual, according to preference or, where applicable, necessity. But that's the essential core of the initiation ritual.

We all did it...

Our Queen will be along shortly to consecrate you for your initiation...

Obviously this is independently verifiable ... our spies are *everywhere*.

And whenever you post anything about the tone of your bass, you can't use terms like treble, mids, etc. You can only use onomatopoeia, metaphors related to the taste and/or consistency of food and drink, or in rare instances, a posted video involving interpretive dance.

My 5 string thunderbird did sound like this

But after adding a graphic EQ to boost the low B sounds like

Legend holds that one of the initiation options here has something to do with wearing a butt bow but I have never actually seen one. Some suggest wearing a mini skirt. There is probably some kind of drinking involved too, like raising your tankard of grog, as you pledge your allegiance to our queen.

FYI, the Dos Equis "most interesting man in the world" would be humbled by some of the folks on this list (and/or their cats).

Other than that, it is an easy going and fun bunch. Welcome!

Treble and Mids... What's that? ;)

Hey, while we're all waiting for our newest member to get initiated, I've been reading up on the G&L MFD humbucker I'm waiting on. I was going to put it in the bridge position, but apparently it's got a huge amount of low end as well as eyeball-splitting snap. Maybe the neck is the place for it?

Just throwing it around. What if it ends up as the only pup...

MFDs were my go to pickup for over a decade before I was chosen by the Thunderbird. They are fantastic pickups, but I think you'll be happiest with it in the neck position. I have a 7ender Jazz that I modified by dropping an MFD into a Musicman position and I've always wished I'd put it in the neck position to fatten up the tone like I thought the MM position would.

Sorry for my delay answering.

Here's my .02$

In the mid position by itself, in series, sounds very P like AKA dumplings

In the bridge position, Stingray like, with less mid-high, AKA less appley

Duesenbergs are nice guitars, and expensive. Considering they're made in the same factory that a bunch of others are, like Chapman and Schecter, they're not much of a value in my eyes. At the Crowded House level I'm sure they're getting them at least at an artist price, if not under endorsement. I'd hate to be dropping 15 hundred on an imported from Asia instrument.

I'm old school, I guess, in that stuff made in certain places is still worth a premium to me. I was taught it's not about lowest price, it's about the best value.

The Crowded House Sydney Opera House 20th Anniversary concert is on telly at the moment and not a Bumper in sight. Nick Seymour is rocking a Gibson Midtown Standard in sunburst. Guitars are Gibson, Epiphone, Duesenberg and Gretcsh.
Do you know, I've been reading your posts with references to bumpers and bumperworld for weeks and not fully understanding. I knew it was a reference to the zombie world but it was only last night in bed watching our favourite TV program "Mash" where there was a reference to the fender and body shop that it finally twigged what you were on about. Slow, me? What?
