Thunderbird Club

My love of Thunderbirds can only be equaled by my love of EB basses! Jim Lea, Dennis Dunaway, Jack Bruce all big early influences. Long before I wanted a Thunderbird I wanted a EB3. Here's my collection of merry muddies, had more than I thought lol.

I’d avoid the ones with the slotted headstock. (1970 IIRC)
We joke about snapping headstocks, but those are even more fragile.

Had a kinda interesting situation on Friday night's gig. The drummer's son(also a drummer)was there with the guitarist he works with. They came up and played a coupla numbers while our 2 went to the bar. The 2 chose to do 2 songs I've never played, but heard 100s of times. One Led Zeppelin, one Tom Petty. (I've never played in a band that did any Zep or Petty. Plus I'm not a TP fan.) Had no problems with either one. As I say, heard both many times over the years.(No, I don't remember what 2 songs they were. I think the Zep mighta been "Hey, hey"[?])
A moment of self approval. Gotta pat my own back, ain't nobody else doin' it. This rig-on this stage.(different amp stand, though)

Right on Mike! I’m not surprised, but yeah it’s a good feeling to just hear what needs to be played and do it.

I have never played one with a bakelite mudbucker. My EB-2 had a chrome mudbucker when it was stock, but it already had a Dimarzio One by the time I got it.

This Saturday's(7/2)-and all other Saturday gigs at this venue(a VFW)-86ed. The 'snowbirds' have flown back north. Not enuff bizness to warrant having a band. We do have a coupla Fridays on the books. We'll see if they happen. This doubly sux 'cos I was gonna try to get a better pic. Oh well, LSTYD.

You're not helping me and my EB-3 gas here, my friend, don't forget Andy Fraser, and Trevor Bolder, both used them as well. I think I have to find a slot head or a '60s one, not likely to leave the house, just sop different from my current stable. Nice copy of Jane's Fighting ships, do you have a copy of Roger Freeman's "The Mighty Eighth" in your library?
