Thunderbird Club

He played a P bass a lot during their first couple of years but then gradually switched over to Gibsons. Here's a couple of old videos (1969 and 1970). I do remember seeing him with Rippers a lot. Tanglewood is about 50 miles from where I grew up in Mass.

I've watched and watched and watched the mess out of Tanglewood, so I knew he was a Fender guy early on. Tone here is OK but not my fave. Not that I've ever complained!

I appreciate this info. Saves me from wasting a set on my Bicentennial and Greco. I can use them on another Bird that will benefit from the SIT strings.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!!

I like Ken Smith's a lot and have several basses with Rockmaster stainless on them, they work nicely on a '76 and the the Greco - I'm going to try some Nickel Rounds because I'm loving how the '64 sounds with them on it, there's a definite warmth to them.

I forget. How do you think the Rock Masters differ from the Power Steels?

Seems odd that the silks are nearly touching the nut on one bass and well away on the other. Are they the same length and brand of string?

different strings and base geetars

darker purple are dunlops and the rest are pyramids

Epsilon and Epsilon Naught cannot be included because of the blue optima RB’s, and the red roundworm factory strings whatever they may be…

They're not as bass, lo mid and mid present as SITs, a bit more top end ( I love clank) . They work really well with a '76, my Lull the Jackson, Greco, the Big LP and have had them on the Orville.

I have the same strings on my 77 and Greco. Great minds think alike . And I agree, the Smith's work very well on those two basses.

That makes sense. I find the Rock Masters and Dunlop Marcus Miller Super Brights better on my BC Rich than the SITs. The Hi-A pickups in the BC Rich are much darker.

Waive as you pass the Frazier Park exit as you go over the grapevine. I’m about 13 miles west of it. See you next Saturday Jeff!

So looking forward to it Marshall.
Benn an interesting time so far. The cabin we're staying in is just beautiful.
But my sis in law is driving me crazy. :roflmao:

This is gonna be the best I can do in catching up here right now.
