HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!

As it happens, I just bought the two latest Voivod albums today on my way to work. The work is playing bass in a summer theatre and today it was two shows. It was about 30 degrees (Celsius) and the bass of choice is of course this:

But back to Voivod. They always had a great overdriven bass sound and the (relatively) new bassist Rocky is no exception. He plays a Ripper.

Seen that clip before, it really shows Trujillos skill level as a guitarist, shame you can’t even hear his talent as a bass player.

Nope. I moved from the Nederland/Caribou Ranch area to San Jose very shortly after the encounter. Witness Relocation Program???

Exactly. Their music does absolutely nothing for me.
Almost from the get-go: bottomless.

That's a risk when using a dirt pedal designed for guitar. A lot will suck out the low end. The key for bass is having a blend knob, to blend in your clean signal. Or use one that's specifically designed for bass. But to each their own.

Digitech Bad Monkey works well with the bass. Dirt cheap too.
Hardwire CM-2 Tube Overdrive is very similar but might work a tad better even. Absolutely no low end loss.
Jacques Tube Blower is another winner.

Nothing beats two amps of course (one clean, one dirty) but it's not always possible.

Not even a casual mention of the GED2112, DI 2112, or YYZ?

Keef's book was plenty of druggie stories for me. Then I made the mistake of reading Chrissie Hynde's book. I had thought she was there for so many things like Sid's last night alive that it must be really engaging. I was disappointed as the first half of the book was about drawing unicorns in high school and all the parts that I wanted to know about, she was too drunk and stoned to remember. Huge disappointment.

Keef's "Life"? I thought that was a great book, I felt like I knew him after reading it. I had a general idea on how it might be anyway because he's such an engaging person. If I had to meet any huge star in this world I would want it to be him, I'm not starstruck and think meeting most of them would be boring and uncomfortable for me but Keith looks like he'd be cool to hang out with, never mind doing a few Chuck Berry tunes. :D
I've read a lot of rock & roll books and have read my share of druggy rock & roll books but do get sick of them. Keef's was probably the best autobiography of any rock star I've read, he seems like he'd be just a normal person in real life.
