Do any of you guys have an unmodified Epiphone Thunderbird IV (stock) ? If so, could whoever has it record a video of playing it clean? Without any pedals or anything that modifies the stock sound of the bass? I've tried looking in Youtube, but I can't tell if the sound is clean stock signal from the bass or if they're messing around with something that can't be seen and they're not telling about it, I don't trust Youtube bass channels/reviewers. Thanks in advance.

I have recorded several different basses including my 2018 unmodded IV. It has La Bella 750N tapes. That will darken the tone compared to other string types.

Tried the SWRs, this one came home with me.

I wondered if you would test the Trace. I had that head in combo form a few years ago and really liked. Sold it to my friend/tech that is a huge Trace fanboy. Trace heads are much louder than the wattage would indicate.

On the straps you mean? That's how Fenders are, Phillips screws on top and a nut under the chassis, there are two holes in the chassis on Fenders, for the bolt to go right through it then a star nut under the chassis, make them very easy to remove.

but a PITA to put back and (blindly) try to get purchase on the nut…..fortunately they learned by the time of MM and threaded the chassis….. later Fenders are the same…..

It's been a while but I seem to remember swearing a lot putting them back together again, it was even hard to get the bolts through the bottom of the chassis.

It's been a while but I seem to remember swearing a lot putting them back together again, it was even hard to get the bolts through the bottom of the chassis.

yeah, those bolts bend easily….getting the nuts onto the bolts is usually easier on the smaller chassis amps where the (smaller) transformer allows for hand wiggle room….on Twins and Concerts it can be almost impossible…..some take the fromt grill off to get all four done but then you need a long firm phillips to get the grill back on……I would sometimes use a piece of spent chewing gum to hold the nut at the end of a screwdriver on an angle…..

We welcome TSOs and FSOs with Thunderbird pickups. Once you have been chosen in one way, you will be a Thunderbird person however it happens.

After several refins the headstock thickness on my recently acquired Nonreverse has been reduced by just about 1/8" on the headstock face. I have been experimenting with different cap material mahogany, maple, and aircraft plywood. In the end mahogany won out. Here's today's progress. View attachment 4801575 View attachment 4801576

We have one credit card we use for everything and another for a backup. That's it. We don't open credit accounts with retailers. Our credit report is pretty streamlined and it's easier to keep track if something goes wrong. A $50 Amazon credit or some percentage off a first purchase isn't worth it in today's world of scammers and hackers.

This. And our credit union is aggressive about stopping fraud on their cards. They do a good job.
