Thunderbird Club

This is some of my favorite live New Order. I wonder if Bernie was trying to sound more like Ian Curtis early on.

Fun trivia: My running team had a holiday at the same place once. It was open bar and we pretty much cleaned out the beer supply and they told us we drink too much.

Well, seeing how soon after Curtis's death this took place, I take it that that tour was already booked and paid for prior to Curtis dying. The band still had to get back on their feet and the fans, who were expecting Joy Division, probably didn't mind the band staying close to that sound.

That all makes good sense.

I think I’m gonna pull the trigger on a set of Lollar’s for my ‘95 Thunderbird.
Smart man. They are fantastic. They sound as good as '64 Gibson pickups and far better than anything else. Except maybe Thunderbuckers, but i don't have an AB comparison.

Veronica's orange Lull, with those pickups, is my current holy grail. Not her '64. Blasphemy.

That seals it. Not even going to bother reading the thread.
One of those where one or two people keep responding to everything with their opinion, as if they are refuting anything by just stating their (clueless, IMO <= see what I did there) opinion again and again and again.
And again.
And also again.
And how COULD Geddy?
But it’s just my opinion.
Again.
It’s just my opinion.
ARGH!

My only reservation is that everyone speaks so highly of the Lull’s. But as it is over $500 after tax/shipping is brutal, and I think the Lull’s are even $50 or so more. I love my Lollar’s in the Jazz and P basses that I have them in, so I can say so far, I haven’t heard a Lollar I didn’t like.

I enjoy the 'logic': It is cloudy here, so it must be raining where you are. Therefore you are wrong about Geddy.

Today is my 38th anniversary with the current wife (she hates it when I say current). She’s obviously a keeper and very supportive of my many expensive habits (as I am of hers). Poopsi and I at a recent cattle branding…

She’s a Flamenco guitar fan, so she’s asked me to start working on bass accompaniment for that. Definitely different, but fun to play.
Congratulations! Looks like you made a great day of it.

This has to be the best tone-wood for metal?

Thunderbird related - was surprised to see Rob Zombie's bassist open their set last night with a (reverse) TSO. I think he may have used both an ESP? and a maybe a Gibson, based on the headstock profiles that i could see......

....and then towards the end (2nd to last song?) for thunder kiss '65, he had this
