I also noticed almost no break angle on the bridge. I’ve never seen that type of bridge before, is the tail designed to sit that high up off the body?Yah, it's mandolin-esque. A lot of polish and Armor-All went in to presenting that bass & case for the photo-shoot! Very interesting bridge w/roller saddles and attached string-stop but the strings are way off the fb and being a set-neck there appears to be limited space to drop the bridge lower. Sophisticated electronics also.

Quite the rabbit hole. Looking up that Martin brought me to this.

That makes sense. I think what appeals to me about those is that they remind me of my RNR, sans pickguard.I guess I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to the shape of a Thunderbird, that strays a bit off the path and I don't like it so much. The original shape is simply so pleasing to my eye, as they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
Flat out amazing. I remember the first time I saw him play (not live), and thought he's kind of like a magician leaving you wondering how he does that. Had the same feeling when I saw SRV twice live. "What just happened?" Amazing stuff. Clarence should be a household name among players.I saw him a vid with that guitar. Man could that dude play! He's got a more complete catalog of historically important music than most performers I've seen.
Yes indeed, the pic is from Max Webster gig. Definitely in my top 10 fav bands. They manage to tick all the right boxes: progressive, weird, funny, pop, rocking, no compromises. Like Zappa, Cheap Trick, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band and The Tubes rolled into one and sounding still themselves.
Not playing much any more, and when I do, I have more bass guitars that I know what to do with...so selling my ebony Epi T-Bird

Wish I could, but can't justify a third VP. Someone is going to get a great bass. Not playing much any more, and when I do, I have more bass guitars that I know what to do with...so selling my ebony Epi T-Bird

always wanted one….like NRs, so not mainstream, just couldn’t afford one….curiously, it’s the bass that came up (for years) when the “Bass Guitar” page came up on wiki…I guess I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to the shape of a Thunderbird, that strays a bit off the path and I don't like it so much. What do you mean with "brit watt"?I have a Fender Rumble 800 Stage that comes with some pretty great amp models. It's "brit watt" model is pretty darn good.
Shoulda know with that cap.
Also, I believe Peter Fredette was the bass player in his early solo career, later switching to keys and guitar.
