Thunderbird Club

My Thunderbird just arrived and played it all day.
I was prepared the sound will be weaker in my taste, than my recent bass of the past 5 years.
And yeah at the first play i had to turn up the input gain on my recorder 'cause i couldn't hear the bass out of the song. After some play i started to mess with the EQ on Cubase, and i was surprised by a lot. I could get almost any sound what i wanted from deep punchy lows, to crispy highs (at least on PC). Such and exciting experiment and thinking about what can i do with it tomorrow and in the future.
By the way, my shoulders are dead, i really have to get used to it's balance.
First step: fixing dents, scratches and paint crackings.

Lovely! Do I have you on the club roster?

Any chance his name was, Fred?

I am not a brand loyalist at all. I have Thunderbirds by several different builders and love the thing that makes them each unique. I don't wave the "everything but a bird/Gibson is crap" flag at all. Just like I don't buy into the "only a 7ender is good enough" mentatlity. There are so many nice basses out there from so many builders that it seems unfair to me to not try/buy as many as possible ;) :roflmao:

Actually, that was a Gibson ad campaign. "Only a Gibson is good enough" one of the promos was Hendrix on a flying V for instance.

Hi Folks,
Can you add me to the list please?
I've been playing bass for a few years & used to gig with a Fender Jazz & a Harley Benton Electric Upright.
Got my T-Bird a few months back, love it, makes me wish I was gigging again!

Welcome to the club! Love the black pickguard on that bass.
This is one of the fastest paced clubs on Talkbass. Always interesting on topic and off topic discussions here from members all around the world. You're at the best place on the planet to get an answer on anything TBird related (and even some things not TBird related). Enjoy your stay and enjoy your bird!

Yes it was and I have an ad with that phrase hanging on my wall. And it has a TBird in the ad as well  But to each their own I always say. I don't think there is a "best" brand out there.

It's all just parts and wood but there is that coolness factor that some see in brands and I'm guilty of that when it comes to Gibson. My Gibsons fill me with pride of ownership. :)

I own a few Harley Benton basses . A BZ4000 , PB50 and JB75 . They are superb value for money . Welcome to the club .

That should read . "So , if I dont play a precision with a high mass bridge and rolled fretboard edge , I'm not a reall bass player ?"

:D

Everytime I read one of those threads I am struck by the assertion that a P Bass is perfect. Then you need to change the bridge, pickups, tuners... Must not be so precise.
