Locking with the bass while playing drums is bliss. Locking with the drums while playing bass is also bliss.

I've been working with the drummer in the current group for ~10years(?). His background is jazz. I've tried to get us doing accents, triplets, and other [stuff] together. Nope. So I give up.

ADDENDUM: by "give up", I mean I'll play figures when I think they're appropriate whether he does or not. If I feel he's about to do something I'll try to go with it-maybe. There's one ending in a song I sing that 'calls for' descending eighth notes. He plays triplets against it which doesn't really fit and I can't ask him to change-while I'm singing it. Aaaarrrggh!

In case anyone here needs more Tbird in their life, we put this one out today... Chris, the channel head-honcho, is a Gibson and Tbird *fanatic*. I didn't think I'd love the sound of an active Bird, but it's pretty damn great.

Well, being the childish, impulsive clown that I am, I bought a new toy. i got a substantial pay increase at work, and instead of planning for when i had it in hand, I ordered a Darkglass Microtubes 500v2. It showed up last Friday afternoon, so I did the only sensible thing to do: I spent about 30 seconds dialing in a tone (it's soooo easy!), familiarized myself a bit with ins and outs, and then used it for the show on Saturday, as you do. Our guitard got a new to him safe queen of a PRS double cut that was delivered on Saturday. He had just enough time to restring it, block the tremolo and set it up before we left. So of course he played the show with that one, as you do.

My new rig is using an SWR Goliath III 410 and I haven't played my NotAGoth through it yet, but I will. This raise has me thinking about luthier tools to properly fix its couple buzzy frets...

Oh, heck yeah! Now I just need to sell one or two basses and I’ll have room (and money) for this one. Of course, it’ll be gone by then.

I play along to Youtube almost all the time..........An hour goes by in a snap.

I don’t subscribe to YouTube so I do get commercials (PITA) but I do subscribe to Pandora so that’s what I use most often. Set on random play and have at it for an hour or two each day.

I wonder what happened. I'm guessing that somebody dropped it while it was plugged in or hit something with it while it was plugged in. It wouldn't be hard to fix, but there it is.

The video quality is quite dodgy... Sounds good though!

That's why you give the drummer a good hard bonk with the bass, maybe you'll unstuck him like with old record players. Worth a try? If he can't adapt to anything other than Jazz why not look for another drummer?

And it’s back from the luthier! The Bartolini pickups opened up the sound a bit. Since my band is taking a heavier direction, and this has the stage presence I need, it’s becoming my B standard bass and the Jackson I bought is being set up to be tuned up to D.

Dunlop has a sweet flush mount system, but it’s a big hole to drill into a bass.

I've used then on my custom basses, but wouldn't install them on an existing bass. One of the reasons I favor Dunlop's - they offer a number of different interfaces.

That would bother me. I am always looking for interesting ways to do those accents with the drummer.

Well, as they say in my native language "The blood flows, where it can't go" and I grew increasingly restless and uneasy with my Americana band and wanted to go back to playing punk rock.

And as luck would have it, a band who I was familiar with had an opening.

This is Lei Va Kaalhei, who make punk rock in the Dialect of the Dutch city of Kerkrade. I'll be replacing the guy with the mushroom hat and Gretsch guitar.

Two weeks ago I had my audition and the others were pleasantly surprised at how quickly I took up the songs, making good use of my musical ear.

For that Audition I brought along my Line6 POD and the others said "Leave that thing at home and bring your amp next time, you'll be using it a LOT next year." I got the set list and an agenda, showing how many shows they've got lined up. I'm going to have to work my butt off.

The best thing about this, I ONLY need to play guitar, no lead vocals.

My trusty Washburn at the Lei Va Kaalhei rehearsal space, today I also did my first publicity shots with those guys and our first performance shall be on January the sixth.

As for the other band, I got one rehearsal cancellation after another for the last couple of weeks, due to the Holiday season and all. TBH, I wouldn't care if we decide to split up, Lei Va Kaalhei is so much easier to work with.
