Just my .02.

Whether we may like it or not I think it's good to see this, perhaps it tells us that someone there at Gibson knows what they have (in the Epiphone bridge) and that it could be applied to Gibson basses.

At first I thought it was having to do with string length, but that doesn't really explain it. The nut/headstock is farther from the end of the body than a reverse.

But I like it! Think I would prefer the gloss black finish though.

Agreed. And they lined the knobs up (not sure why those gold knobs, but hey)! At least they are trying something new. And while over at Epi, grab some 760s for kicks!

I like the color a lot.
But why in the heck can't they get the original pick up spacing right for a change?!
It's the mod shop!!!!

NR’s starting to look great again!….next is the bigger headstock….Gibson; thank you for your experiment but if it ain’t broke….

It's Gibson? Not that they were trying to make an exact copy, but why change one thing that was part of the magic? (I know, I've beat several horses, jockeys and trainers to death over that.)

As long as we're alive there is hope!

No chance for silks in those saddles!
It’s a bit extreme on the claw placement and might even limit string choices if too long. I like the open pore finish and overall look, nice departure from the high gloss glass finish world of todays guitars. Still wishing they’d get the pup placement closer to vintage locations. The logo looks cool! The amber knobs are a nice touch with the pearloid guard. Odd that they didn’t bother to clean the bridge before installing it on the bass, in the closeups it’s covered in grime (guess that adds to the vintage vibe). Price is up there, but it is a one off with good collector potential.

We put in something like four new songs last night. We kinda suck at them at the moment, but we were able to get through them and work out a lot of bugs. It's an absolute blast. The band I'm the drummer in has been working on songs pretty much continuously for the last year, and I think we should be looking for gigs. The BL is a bit of a perfectionist, so he's going kinda slow on that. I'm ok with it, since playing is playing. I don't care if it's in the basement or somewhere else. The project on the upright has foundered again. But, it will get off the dime eventually. It has a guitarist and bass player who can do vocals and a female vocalist. We just don't have a drummer at the moment.

In my book Gibby gets…
A+ for effort (love this whole let’s play “what if” concept)
A+ for thinking outside the box (unique finish, guard, knobs, logo, bridge)
B+ for pricing (one off custom shop)
C for pickup and tail piece locations (neck pup too far north, claw too far south)

Correct the pup and tail piece locations and it’ll be an outta the park home run. That’s a dirt cheap easy CNC programming change for the pup router and zero parts and labor cost for the claw, pup and pickguard. We need to call Gibby!

Funny you should say that. I might have pulled the trigger if the claw was in the right position. But if I got it as is I’d feel compelled to move the claw and maybe even the neck pup. Those would be serious mods in the body, which most collectors frown upon. So at $2000 yep, at $3500 nope.

The guy I found to play drums is just the best, super nice guy and he can really play, knows how to take it down a little and toss in some fun funky stuff too. We're putting "What you need " by INXS together and I'm having a great time playing the bass line fingerstyle with him on the drums, it's a fun, easy groove to create.
