Of course, I understand, sometimes us Yanks forget to look where other Talkbassers are located, sometimes it's not arrogance, it's ignorance. My apologies.

No offence taken so no worries! Apparently my english is on a level it might fool somebody.

That was arrogance, sorry. :D

Hmmm, that reminded me of a Crack The Sky song "Maybe I Can Fool Everybody (Tonight)".

Affirmative. Short for Guitar Center. Though me being in Montreal Canada, ive never entered one (as they're located only in the States afaik).

Someone can correct me, if theres another designation for GC.

I'm happy with the Long & McQuades of our world, I get outstanding service at the Laval and St-Eustache stores, but I wouldn't mind dropping into a Montreal GC once in a while, if we would have one. I visited the one near Fenway Pahk a few years ago, really liked the place and the folks working there.

:)

We're pretty much cat people chez les Bassmike.

My daughter and son share a huge appartment and have 3, including your best friend's lookalike. That one's the younger of the lot, the other 2 are 11 y.o. black'n whites. Adorable little things all of'em. Incidentally, my daughter landed in Senegal a few hours ago (visiting her best friend who's there to visit her mother) and among the 1st picture she she sent me, was a cat picture.

IME, GC's are a crapshoot. I've been in some and been totally ignored and others where the staff is helpful.

I've been to L&M in montreal & its nice, has bit more than Steves music store (where i work as guitar tech), but feels very corporate/dark. Idk maybe because im downtown montreal & the windows arent blacked out xD.

I hear ya. That's why the LMcQs get pretty much 99% of my humble business.

The one on PieIX ? It is dark, truedat. The other 2 are quite different in vibe, IMO. Working at Steve's gotta be pretty cool though :). I'm pretty sure we met, but not clear about the purchase.

I made some clips to my friend to showcase the Seymour Duncan Studio Bass compressor. I also played this Iron Maiden lick. When I started I played along Maiden albums a lot. "Prisoner" was a big fav but "Number Of The Beast" too and I still remember this part.
The compressor does not mask shoddy playing but definitely keeps the sound more cohesive when playing stuff like this. First off, then on.

It appears the nearest LMcQ is in Windsor, ON, 1,290 miles(??km). At least 3 days drive plus I ain't gots no passport.:smug:

I’ve got to bust your chops. The pickiest club member re strings doesn’t notice a difference in gauges?
Because there isn't. I was trying to be polite and leave that possibility open.

Maybe not noticing that is my one fault.:smug:. But it is strings plus pickup location that has to be factored in. I have no time to listen for thickness of strings. I've got bigger issues.

27093386[/URL], member: 25303"]When I returned the damaged Iceman bass, there were no restocking or shipping charges. It was a full refund.

@Engle Are you saying you had it shipped to the local GC, and they charged $25 extra for that?
Yes the bass was in Syracuse and they charged $25 to ship it to Bellingham (sort of local to me). This was in 2018.
I think the shipping charge applies to used gear, not new.

Missa on* "shoddy playing"?
* I had to look it up and my keyboard doesn't do the 2 dots over the "a".
