I need one of those signs!

Their other big hit here was “Holy Grail”. I like lots of their stuff but it’s a little eclectic, or was in the 80s anyway.
Try… Do You See What I See, Say Goodbye, When The River Runs Dry, True Tears of Joy, Talking to a Stranger. And Holy Grail of course.
I'll look into those. Next year.;)

We have bass, drums, guitar, keys, vocalist, sax, and trumpet. We could bring in a trombone. It’s difficult to get 7 people together for regular rehearsals.
We have a gig lined up in about a month, so if anyone has a good suggestion for a name…
Irv and the Vancouver Jukes. Work this one up for a closer. You’ll be golden.

Yeah, local band Hunters & Collectors were 8 piece. In an interview that was brought up as having been an issue for them. They lasted nearly 20 years though, with an occasional reunion.
One of their hits you may have heard is “Throw My Arms Round You” ?

It has been covered by lots of people but most successfully (imo) by Crowed House. The singer of Hunters younger brother is the bassist in the Crowdies. My wild guess was they were helping out by recording it to give him some more royalties, it’s not like Neil Finn needs help finding a song. Complete guess by me, it is a good song so maybe it was that simple.

Great band!

I turned the sound off after ten seconds. Still enjoyed the vid…
Any time I can see and hear Anni-Frid Lyngstad* is worth it.

*the brunette
Edit: she has an interesting lineage: Mother, Swedish; Father, 'visiting' Nazi soldier.
Edit: Oops! Mother, Norwegian. My bad.:sorry:

I’ve come clean and admitted I have a problem. I’ve told her about the 11th Tbird that will soon be joining the flock. Although I don’t think she has figured out there are already ten spread out in various places. I’m a goner when the music room is set up and all are in one place.
Just bring the wife over with you when you come here. One look at my bass room and she’ll think you’re positively sane.

I certainly knew of him and his work back in the day with Weather Report and Joni Mitchell. I was and am still a huge Joni fan. Some I liked. There was a lot I didn’t. But you can’t argue with his talent and the way he expanded the instrument.
I’ll be honest, I never heard the man’s name before I joined TalkBass. Joni yes (love a lot of her stuff), Jaco nope. I’ve tried to listen to a number of his recordings and just can’t get much beyond the first couple of minutes on any of them. Talent, yes. Trail blazer, yes. Something Picasso also was, but like Picasso’s work, it just isn’t my cup of tea and consequently I never developed an interest in delving into it. Maybe some day that’ll change, my musical tastes are constantly evolving.

Good thing you caught it when you did. My neighborhood has a notable amount of flooding, I’m very near the bay and a couple of “creeks” pass through on their way to the bay, and those are looking pretty high. Many of the storm drains appear to be backed up too, including the one in front of my house, and all the sidewalks near me are underwater. Good thing the rain is going to break for a day or so. After 5-6 years of serious drought, we desperately need this rain, but the consequences of getting so much so fast are hard. Sorry about your studio, really hope nothing major is lost and cleanup isn’t a nightmare.

Thanks - the important stuff is ok. I'll help Paul with clean-up but with more rain next week after a lull who knows what to expect.
