OK, what about a purple, plastic tug bar?Too brittle for Thunderbirds I would think. They would rattle it to bits in no time.

Silk covered.OK, what about a purple, plastic tug bar?
Let's just say it was a most embarrassing moment me trying to say something about TBirds you guys already knew.
Precisely why I'm sticking with wood. Spelling beyond four letters is pushing it for me.But it would be fun watching folks when you say your tug bar is Polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride.
But you might need to try various locations for the tug bar. Everything adds up to something. I think you should come up with a tug bar jig for testing.LOL - that’s the best before and after bass demo I’ve ever heard! The difference is very subtle, there’s definitely something more going on with the tug bar that I can’t quite describe, but I love the new sound. I have a tug bar that I haven’t installed yet, this inspires me to follow your lead!
You would also have a cool song title to go with it. Who can't dance to "The Tug Bar Jig?" Bootie shaker and boot scooter if there ever was one.Andy Irvine has a pretty good play around on an Epi VP - 20 minutes or so.
He says he hasn't been a T-Bird/Gibson guy but apparently he loves it already and he only just got it. The guy has a lot of basses.
For some reason there’s a lot of four letter words in my vocabulary as well.Precisely why I'm sticking with wood. Spelling beyond four letters is pushing it for me.
Please don't come up with a 37 letter word for that too.

I wonder...... would the tone difference be greater or lesser depending on whether it is used, or just installed & un-used?![]()
Well, since I haven't been to NYC since 73...
I wonder if Bakelite would add another old school dimension![]()
I would think the tug bar would sound fuller if installed and unused, that’s how I plan to use mine if installed. That way it is free to resonate with the rest of the bass. If used, I suspect it would be a lot like palm muting the strings, your fingers on the tug bar would in essence mute the effect.I wonder...... would the tone difference be greater or lesser depending on whether it is used, or just installed & un-used?![]()

Sounds like this could be a trick question, but I'm going with "yes."I wonder...... would the tone difference be greater or lesser depending on whether it is used, or just installed & un-used?![]()
