Thunderbird Club

Generally, I feel if I'm not driving at least an hour (other than local errands), it's not worth leaving the house for.

But, I can't do the "iron butt" thing anymore - two hours, maybe three, in one sitting is about all I can do without at least stopping to get out & walk around, stretch my knees out & such.

Lately, trips to Redding & back are about the longest trips I take in a night.

That's how I feel about a bike ride! :)

Sydney rents, and property prices in general, are ridiculous.
Never sell a property in Sydney to move elsewhere (a tree change for example) if you have any thought that you may want to move back someday. You most likely won’t be able to.

That's true of most major cities in the US.

That GK sure brings back some memories for me, was my first "good" amp, not counting the Ampeg V4B that always sounded like a rocket taking off at the most inappropriate times

Love the GK. Still a favorite. Always been plenty of power for me. I do have a 500w amp, but I never feel like I need more than 200w.

I do also have an original V4, 1970ish. Waiting for it to return from the shop. Been a long wait, but I know it will be right when I get it back.

That is quite a stack you have there!! How do you like the Buster? I have heard they sound good but not really gritty. Curious to hear your take on the sound.

I'll probably need more time with it to figure it out for sure, but preamp does get gritty if you hit it with a hot signal. Gain at about 2:00 and over you start to hear it with a spark boost (clean boost pedal) in front of it.

Power amp stays clean all the way up. Was hoping to hit it with the spark boost in the effects loop and get power amp OD that way. Gave it a try earlier and I got nothing. Seemed like none of the pedals were doing anything in the FX loop, so there may be an issue there. Guy I got it from said he never used it.

can’t wait to see this….gnarly..

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:I saw the trailer on TV the other day. Perfect B movie horror flick for late on a Saturday night, with some popcorn and coke, when everybody is slap happy and just about anything absurdly silly seems hysterical. Right up there with Sharknado, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and The Milpitas Monster. Basically Dr Demento in video format. :roflmao:

Currently using a 1973’ish V4 guitar head into a V4 4x12 cabinet for my live rig. The cab is loaded with Eminence BP 122’s and the V4 has been modified professionally to run with 6550’s. Of the things that were done, a transformer was added to support the heaters/filaments (or something like that) for two of the power tubes and the remaining two power tubes use the original transformer so everything is running at the right voltages(or amperages) for 6550’s. At least that’s my vague understanding of what was done.

Sounds good and is plenty of power for the venues I get to play at this point. Even holds it own with D standard tuning.

My first good amp was also a GK, and 800RB from the very late ‘80’s I think.
