Wired up the lugs on the output jack one rotation off.

By design? Who knows....... Ibanez, at least used to, have odd-ball output jack wiring. I blew out a tuner pedal so I could find out the hard way......






At any rate, it's all worked out now.


No idea why people are complaining about low output from the SQR pups after a pre-amp swap - initial impression tells me they my be higher output than the EMGs in my 5-string Ibanez.

I feel the Sadowsky pre-amp could be contributory.

I run the Ibanez pretty hot through the regular input on my Mark IV; to keep the grit/distortion down (why??? ) and get a more clean sound from the Squier, I'll likely need to use the low-gain input.

There is a volume drop when going to passive, but not excessive imo. Not that I'm likely to use that a lot......

I planned to use the original knobs, to match the rest of the (black chrome) hardware, but the posts on the Sadowsky stacked pot were too small for the original stacked knobs, so the Sadowsky units went on......

Poor wire management is a pet peeve of mine. That job looks great! Lots of wire, but everything is nice and orderly, wire tied and shrink wrapped! I’ve seen pros do worse. And for the OCD gang, every pickguard screw is even turned to the same orientation.

The s/n(or lack thereof), the complete separation repair, the dings along the body, the very low volume on the bridge pup, the neck perhaps needing a reset, the missing tug bar-my choice, the new PG isn't drilled for it. I'm sure there's something I'm leaving out. Oh. Yeah. The fact that I'm not looking to sell it.

3. I enjoyed the playing.
4. This is how reviews and comps should be done.

I realize a recorded sound is going to be pretty different from a live-through-an-amp-sound. How to you think they translated from recorded to in person sound? Same impressions for you recorded and live?

I have no intention of buying an amp, but if an ACC head ever shows up in front of me, which ones are the good or preferred ones and which to avoid? Scott has a thread where he just bought one (370).

My impressions through my Sunn is the VP with rounds is very balanced and less farty than the recording, the SITs and EBCF have more mids live, and the La Bellas rattle the walls either way. I haven’t listened to the recording through my Infinity Wave Transmission Line Towers, just some ok laptop extension speakers. Tomorrow I’ll plug a USB drive into the AV head and do a proper listen.

There's only one venue that we play I'd consider taking the '64 out to, 7 Cedars in Sequim, WA, it'll never go to a small stage, our new singer is far too exuberant in her movements and has already collided with me several times at rehearsals. I don't usually take the '76s to smaller venues either.

The 7 Cedars cabaret was my project back when. It is a really beautiful venue. I haven't been there in close to 20 years. Time to go there again. The guys who run that place are among the best people I have ever worked with.
