So when I Re-tubed my Peavey Classic 30 guitar amp I went with Tung-Sol 12AX7 preamp tubes. Like em. What about a Bass Preamp ? Any guidance on the 12AX7's for a Bass Amp ? I know, same valve but just curious as to favorites and why ?

You’re always welcome Jeff. But it is more SoCal than NoCal.
LowCal is probably a good compromise.

Y'know, having been flashed, all I can say is you get the flasher you get, not necessarily the flasher you want.Man, to have been a props hand on the set of that show, the stories they must have ! Didn't one of the "judges" flash the others at one point ?
Wayne Shorter is gone. What a great musician he was.
depends on what are you are looking for in tone, quality and price…So when I Re-tubed my Peavey Classic 30 guitar amp I went with Tung-Sol 12AX7 preamp tubes. Like em. What about a Bass Preamp ? Coil taps can be handy, if your pickups allow it. On my FrankenGoth bass I went with a single toggle that when flipped gives me the neck coil of the neck pickup and the bridge coil of the bridge pickup, works great! I’d agree, not that neck on that bass.New project parts coming together. I'm thinking maybe no on the neck, maybe all black. Also wondering about installing toggles for the coil taps, don't know if it's worth the effort? Opinions?

I like the Tigerwood neck on the Goth.If I mod the Goth, maybe use the Tigerwood neck on it?

Gene, Gene was my hero. A kinder, gentler time.Oh yeah!Wish I could dance like Chuck.
As one who proudly exalts the virtues of the ‘15, yes. Adding the switches are well worth it. And it would be a shame not to take advantage of them. And by the way Thump, are you the one who snagged those right out from under me as I was PMing the seller?New project parts coming together. I'm thinking maybe no on the neck, maybe all black. They were pretty wild. And Chuck was supposedly a CIA agent. When I was in college, we drove up there on a lark one day to see it. We were too late. For the year or so it was really popular, you had to get to the studio really early to get in line.Man, to have been a props hand on the set of that show, the stories they must have ! Nah. Actually Irv got the first set. But it’s all good. After you snagged them, the seller found one more. The project I intended them for needs two.I bought the first set, not the second if that helps my cause

These are the preamp tubes Mesa uses in the wonderful TT800. I don’t recall who the supplier is. It was mentioned a few times in the Mesa Club, but I’m not very good using the search feature. They may well be Tung-Sols. Perhaps ask there if you’re interested. And your post reminds me I should order a backup set.So when I Re-tubed my Peavey Classic 30 guitar amp I went with Tung-Sol 12AX7 preamp tubes. Like em. What about a Bass Preamp ? His price was really fair.I think the seller owes me a finders fee! That said, it saved me from buying a set and putting them in that jazz bass I posted a couple of pages back. Jazz bass with humbuckers/single coil would be fun!
An I'd love that Mesa Boogie TT800.These are the preamp tubes Mesa uses in the wonderful TT800. I don’t recall who the supplier is. Preamp Tube - 12AX7
Nothing wrong with tat! I for one like Hartke. They make nice amps and cabs at reasonable prices.M

I settled on the Hartke LX5500 with 3 12AX7's in the tube preamp. One reason is I'm a brokea** mo-fo. The other is my cab has a peak of 600 watts . Lastly I'm not playing Madison Square Garden anytime soon lol . That being said NGD is NGD and I can't wait until it gets here woohoo !
What? You don't have your set like that? You mean it's just me?Is it me or that fashion did not age well...
