Playing a show on Easter Sunday w/TSC's (at Winters' Tavern Pacifica)... outside. So because of that, I'm stepping outside my usual bass-box and rocking my Saundersbird... for two reasons. 1) it's active (Fender-Kubicki 9v pre) and 2) it has a Dunlop drop-D mechanism on the E-tuner. 'Active' so my amp doesn't need to be pushed to be heard - plus, super mid/high clarity where 'outside' can lead to mud.., and because I'll use the drop-D on Heroes by Bowie. Haven't used it with a band since my brief involvement with SMF (brother rock trio) - should be fun! Had it out today and it feels and sounds great! The neck is more 'modern' P-bass - 1-5/8" nut.
It's just so R&R... The day's 8 band music celebration is called "Beaster" - and it fits the theme.

Those are a little expensive, but they sure look good. 4" wide with black on top and dark red in back might look pretty good on the Flamingo. I have to think about that, though, because it already has a perfectly good Levy's strap.

Get on the mailing list for the frequent deals. Two for one, or like 40+% for one. Nice folks. Real leather with suede or smooth backing. A variety of colors. Your choice.

It's strange out here, bands stay together for decades, it's not like there are a lot of gigs available.

The cover band I play in is really a dad band now. We have been playing together for 14 years at least now. There has been turnover, but there hasn't been any since we'll before covid. Other bands have come and gone regularly. They seem to last two to six years if they get past the first few rehearsals.

My son had a lot of hair like that as a college freshman. The girls really liked it and taught him to fluff his hair. He looked like Jimi when he hadn't shaved and when his hair was picked out. He went out with one of those girls for a long-ish time. We really liked her, but he decided to move on. It happens. But I think of that girl every time I see a picture of Jimi for that reason.

The rig George sold me, the SVT VR and Berg NV610, is pretty much as good as Ampeg tone gets.

Yeah. Same stuff as the cheap “leather” office chairs from Home Depot and $500 “leather” couches. They look great for a year or two, then begin to disintegrate, leaving funky pieces stuck to the back of your pants.

I was considering getting a 4 ohm Genzler 410 cab as I could bring it here on the plane, it's light enough plus they have six 3" cone tweeters which are supposed to disperse the highs very well. I've had so few gigs here though I can't really justify it.

Those are highly thought of in the Mesa Club. Not surprising given Masa’s Andy Fields and Jeff Genzler’s long standing working relationship that continues with the Genzler pedal line.

I may be coming into another amp in the next few months and am considering getting one of those.

Funny thing is I am not much of a fan of SVTs, and of all the Acoustic heads I ever had, a 370 was my least favorite. But the 370 sounded great through an Ampeg stack. The opposite of what you have discovered, but I sure liked it for a brief moment.

My first tonal epiphany was a GK 800RB through an Ampeg 810.
