Thunderbird Club

My attendance is questionable, unfortunately. Just helped our daughter move cross-country and that ate a good chunk of my PTO for the year. Might still be able to make it happen tho.

We had tickets to see REM with Sonic Youth opening (Never had the chance to see SY before that) and then Bill Berry had his aneurism, which put the tour on hold. When the tour resumed someone else opened (I don't remember who opened, maybe Lucious Jackson) and I didn't get to see Sonic Youth. I was already over REM at that point in their career and then they played NOTHING from the first few albums, which was all I really cared for so I totally wrote them off after that.

Anyhow.....Sonic Youth:

10 hours one way = Banzai Road trip!

Be still my heart! Nikki is the best. And I love SSPUs.

Here are a couple pics from a pre-pandemic show:

Hey hey, let’s sing one song for our ol’ Kentucky Home!

I grew up in Lexington and then moved to Los Angeles. Redondo Beach. I tried to turn them on to Bluegrass music, but I think they were a little freaked out by it, lol.
Yeah, them people on the Crazy Coast...what can do you? But thanks for tryin'! :roflmao:

Nice! The fifty goes on top BTW.

My contribution. All the other black ones are up on the mountain:

For those who asked earlier, the BaCH is more sculpted than the Gibsons. Rounder edges and a more generous belly cut. My ‘21 NR is 8 1/2 lbs per Sweetwater. This Bach is lighter. My guesstimate (I don’t have an accurate scale, only my experience) is about 7 lbs, 10 to 12 twelve ounces. Very close to my ‘15 Reverse.
That BaCH is one fantastic looking bass.

My apologies if there are already a lot of photos of Nikki Monninger of Silversun Pickups playing a Gibson Thunderbird bass. I love this band so much!
It's all good. Though there is a guy here who seems to have a particular fascination with Nikki.
We all know who you are Mr. Pelham Blue.

I thought I might get a little “dig” in to the California continent. The upcoming GTG sounds like it going to be a blast, sorry I can’t make it from all the way on the other coast.
Mrs Gator and I are on an anniversary get away. The inn on the Chesapeake Bay that we are staying at had this sign posted on the wine rack. It made me laugh and think of you all. Cheers.

Virginia also makes shine than can fuel auto parts. Cali can't top that either.

(Same can be said about many places in these parts.)

If you can keep it safe at all times, by all means take it.

The audience deserves to hear it.

But if you’re like me, and all you would do is worry about what might happen, and not enjoy the weekend, take the J. You can always find another J.

Anyway, whatever you decide, have a fun time on the camping trip! And, of course, PLAY IT LOUD!

truck loaded and camper packed. I decided: ^&%$ it, I'm taking the Bird........but I'm loading the J too.
