So what color is the new one at the bottom? It really does look green in some light. I love it.
Why wait, just pave your own way. In light of the Eppi VP renaming (again) this will now officially be known as…Paving the way for a Thunderbird 68 NR we hope?
Love that collection Marshall! The new one really is a nice mossy green. I was assuming it was just an off color photo of a TV silver. Is it the same color under the pickguard?

If it's silver, it sure doesn't match the shorty.
If it's the same noise that my Pro 5 had, it's pretty common on the Pros.
Copper shielding should eliminate most, if not all, of that noise - I did the electronics bay and the pickup routes on mine, the was the pickups shielding that ultimately made the difference.
Mine is almost dead silent now

sure what the he11…
yeah remember now, with a Mk IV? III?
you had to carry it up stairs? used one with a Mk IV at a rehearsal spot we use to rent and it sounded REALLY good with TB+…

I’m almost certain it was TV Silver. It is a very thin coat of paint with a lot of grain showing. It looks more silver under different light. I installed the strings the correct way and they seem ok, even with no wraps. I still need to tweak the TR, about 1/4 turn, and then dial in intonation, adjust the bridge height and pickup height, polish the frets, and clean and oil the FB. Good project for the holiday weekend. So what color is the new one at the bottom? It really does look green in some light. I love it.

Then you'll need a VP if they release new ones in some shade of blue.I’m almost certain it was TV Silver. It is a very thin coat of paint with a lot of grain showing. It is a great playing Thunderbird, in very good condition other than the spot on the lower wing. It’s definitely worth getting that repaired.
I’ll add an ebony one and a white one in due course. Then the Limited Edition Custom Shop collection will be complete.
….and a gentleman and a scholar and a damn good bass player!Nice pickguard! Irv is an artist.

Pretty bass. Ugly PG. Stupid model name.

Replace the grill cloth. Painting it isn’t worth the effort. And who knows how it will affect the dispersion. Duratex is a good idea, so long as you can strip the Tolex and glue. The stuff is tough as nails and easy to touch up after a few years. No major stress to get it home, had to drive to Oakland? to pick it up, seller rolled it out & across the street, and helped with loading it into my Suburban. Easy-peasy to unload & roll to my apt.
I do have a MKIII Peavey (the one in the pic) plugged into half of it atm, but I don't really have the space/lack of neighbours to open it up the way I'd like.....
I've gotten new corners & feet for it, debating on replacing the grill-cloth or try painting it..... thinking I'm probably? going to put on DuraTex instead of new tolex![]()
