It’s what I’m doing. I had hoped to keep my total build cost at around $800 but I’ll most likely be a hair over that. The cost of finishing has unfortunately gone through the roof. Finishers that were charging $300 for a body a couple of years ago are now charging as much as $600 for the same job.

There’s an outside chance my NR will be complete in time for the GTG but most likely not, the weather has been so cold and damp down here it’s delayed the finishing by a couple of months. We just got into the 70’s a couple of days ago for the first time this year.

Seattle has been warm this Spring, we've made it into the '90s already and quite a few '80s days as well - But, of course it's rainy and cool here today. :D

You know, I wasn’t convinced until I got the ‘13 from a great TB’er. It took a few weeks to adapt to the different ergos. I now play all my Reverses and NRs without noticing a difference. It could just be me, I’m not very picky. Except I don’t know that I could ever feel comfortable with a JBass. Standing is not much of an issue. But sitting with them is very uncomfortable for me.

My personal choice would be the 2012. I far prefer reverse Thunderbirds. It is a personal quirk that I don't like NRs at all.

I'm refitting the original tuners, which required drilling a couple of screws that the first owner had broken off when the aftermarket tuners were installed. The holes have all been doweled, will do the same to mount the new tailpiece along with a height shim for the pickup.

I don’t favor one over the other per se.
But there is something cool about the feel of an NR.

Sitting, standing. I’ve yet to play a bass
that wasn’t comfortable in both settings.
