Thunderbird Club

I replaced the busted 3-prong on the Pacer today, and did a bit of testing....... it's not a bass amp, but I don't currently have a treble guitar, so a ran the CP through it :D

Some of the pots are a bit scratchy, but otherwise it functions excellent, and sounds pretty good

A bit of clean-up on the pots & the exterior, should be the only other things it needs.

imo, great value at $30 & 15 minutes round-trip drive :smug:

Can't beat vintage Peavey :)
$30 ? Can’t go wrong with that!

The country band played a show today. 60's style honky-tonk. Buck owens, Ernest tubb, some trucker songs...

Took the classic pro with pyramid flats, and it did a great job. Pic isn't so great , but we had a good time.

Three bands on the bill, and all had a pedal steel. Beautiful sounds all day.

We closed out our church service with “I Saw the Light”. We played it with the vibe of Hank’s original recording. Even though (playing-wise) I’m normally much more of a rock guy, it was a blast to play. My formative years included a lot of early-mid-60s C&W of all sorts, and I still love that as well as old cowboy music.

That was a favorite of my Dad's as well. And flopper stoppers.

This is why Thunderbirds need good cases. You don't want them flopping around as was true with the original 60s cases.

That's for sure! Enough room top stack two of them!

Awesome info, thanks!
Do you have build threads for those?
I’m planning on Danish oil for a finish after making a bathroom cabinet using it.
No, I’ve never bothered putting together a build thread. I just build basses with features I like but can’t get on the open market. I’m far from a luthier, I just enjoy creating new unique instruments that are fun to play and nice to look at.

And they say Tbirds don’t do country.

The white VP did waltzes, foxtrot, disco, pop, rock and even the latest Finnish Eurovision smash (the one the ended up 2nd but was clearly a winner in most peoples eyes) last Saturday. I might be wrong but I think it has a little bit of more "honk" (in a good way) when both pickups on than the currently broken tobaccoburst.

No photos but it's a green bass Monday anyway so here's one:

And as everyone knows I like to post my songs and even demos so why break that tradition. An old one I padded up with voice loops so I basically sing on it even 'though it's more reverb than dry signal.
An excerpt of (yet another) work in progress:

From punk (or however you label the clip from last week), to country! Very cool!
