I’ve never tried to UV age a pickguard. I’ve seen a lot that have aged naturally over the years and they all have one thing in common - shrinkage. Don’t know if that’s really an issue but to be safe I’d screw that guard down to a piece of 3/4” plywood so if it does shrink any it’ll split at a screw hole, even more authentic. If it shrinks without being screwed down you might find that none of the holes line up on your bass any longer. Just a thought, no experience on the matter.Thanks Marshall, here’s a pic without dirt on the guard
FWIW - I did attempt to age one with wet tea and coffee grounds for a couple of months. Looked fantastic at first blush, had a bit of a coffee odor so I washed it with soap and water. All the aging came off and it looked brand new again. Fail. I just buy antique white, or parchment guards now, looks good enough for me.
This particular pickguard is one I made to test my VP template and that logo file. It's not a very serious experiment, but after a few months the screw holes still line up and the vinyl logo is intact
Thinking about it, basses don't spend much time in outdoor sunlight. I think I'll leave it on the window sill and see what happens.
I bought some parchment material with the intention of making an old looking PG for my VP, but it's just too sexy with the black PG.

Do you have any pics of the other NR’s?
I’ve got everything on order for mine. Body, neck with paddle, tuners and bridge are Hipshot, knobs and strap locks already owned. Pick guard is in limbo. Dark Star already owned.
Frank must have felt right at home tooling around in the AMC..

The Acaica NR just got a Controlectomy today, she came out of the operation just fine sans the passive three knob layout and now is sporting a custom John East preamp I had laying around from another build. It’s now three stacked knobs Vol/pan, neck bass+-/treb+-/pull up for bright, bridge bass+-/treb+-/pull up for bright. Really brought the Nordstrand Zen sidewinders to life. Here it is before the operation (the only visual difference is it now has stacked knobs)…
The VP NR is at the finisher getting a Shoreline Gold Metallic body job. Here’s a shot I took at the fit test just before sending it to the finisher…
The ThunderCaster NR is still in the very early stages of construction. I haven’t had any time to work on it. When all is said and done it should be an exact copy of my Fender Modern Player Telecaster. Absolutely everything on the Tele will be scavenged off to make the NR. The only non fender components will be the NR body and a custom pickguard I’m designing. Everything else right down to the strings and screws will come from the Tele. The pickup locations will be identical to the Tele locations as well. The intent is to retire the last Fender I really only play anymore so I can focus on the more ergonomically comfortable NR without losing the Tele sound I love. A pic of the donor and recipient…

I can’t wait to see your build. I’ve always wanted to do a dark star fretless Tbird with through body cutouts like the old Ampeg had. Maybe someday, too many projects right now as it is.
