I’ve always liked the understated elegance of the finish on that Jeff. I wish you could bring it to the GTG.
Thx Marshall. There'll be plenty enough basses to go around.
Mine won't be missed.

I believe that the structure matters (neck through vs set neck vs bolt on). I believe that the structure of a particular piece of wood (or other material used for instrument construction) may cause it to dampen string vibrations or not. I haven’t seen or heard of any complaints about the pine bodies on Fender AmPro II Jazz basses. To go back to Leo, he started using rosewood fretboards not because of any potential acoustic properties, but because a rosewood fretboard wouldn’t show grime and dirt like maple. And they work pretty well. I was a tone wood skeptic until comparing the sound of a 2015 Thunderbird to the sound of a 2013 EB. Mahogany is a little darker sounding than ash/maple. Which is probably not a surprise, but it's there. It's also minor. String choice, EQ, and how you play makes a bigger difference.
A legend. And he was active almost to the end. He helped a lot of other artists along the way. We need more like him in this world. My wife just told me that he passed on.

what color is the body? pic maybe?I have never seen a 68-75 style headstock logo/font style WITH the serial on the headstock. I always thought the serial moved from the neck plate to the headstock when they reduced the size of and removed the serifs from the font for the Precision or Jazz Bass part of the decal.
I have a ‘75 maple fretless and the body weights a ton. I think the whole bass weighs almost 12 lbs. And a previous owner hack in a j-bass pickup in the bridge position, very poorly, and put it too close to the bridge. I’m deciding if I wand to fill the j-bass hole and refinish in white-blonde, or just replace the body with something lighter, and store the original body to keep it for if and when I ever sell it.
Everybody is different I guess. 40mg and I'd be tripping, not sleeping![]()
GTG experiment..yeah after 20mg don’t think i’d be in any condition to ingest the other 20…

Wow, that's quite a property for the $ compared to here!LOL - that was at my last house (in Kentucky). I finished off a 1500 sqft basement as my guitar and bass room - complete with pool table, full wet bar, poker table, a theater with a 12ft diagonal drop down screen and projection TV, a fitness room, a wood shop, and bathroom. Sold it in 2012. It just went back on the market again…
1076 Colina Dr, Villa Hills, KY 41017 - 4 beds/6 baths
photos 21-29 show most of the basement area I finished (I did everything except hang the drywall).
Yeah, you get a lot of really nice house for your money in Kentucky. And this wasn’t out in the sticks, just a 15 minute drive to downtown Cincinnati in one direction and 15 minute drive to CVG international airport in the other direction. Nice little bedroom community called Villa Hills.Wow, that's quite a property for the $ compared to here!

Very nice! That shouldn’t be there for long at that price with the case and shipping, and no tax. I like shorties too. But there are too many other wants ahead of it on my GAS list. Not a Tbird, but still a heck of a bass at a decent price over in the classifieds. Very rare, sound much better than a standard EB IMHO. Hard to find these for less than $1500…
