I believe that the structure matters (neck through vs set neck vs bolt on). I believe that the structure of a particular piece of wood (or other material used for instrument construction) may cause it to dampen string vibrations or not. I haven’t seen or heard of any complaints about the pine bodies on Fender AmPro II Jazz basses. To go back to Leo, he started using rosewood fretboards not because of any potential acoustic properties, but because a rosewood fretboard wouldn’t show grime and dirt like maple.
Physical materials are interesting. Three trumpets made within minutes of each other at the same factory will all sound different let alone 3 basses made out of trees.
My wife just told me that he passed on.
A legend. And he was active almost to the end. He helped a lot of other artists along the way. We need more like him in this world.

Yeah, you get a lot of really nice house for your money in Kentucky. And this wasn’t out in the sticks, just a 15 minute drive to downtown Cincinnati in one direction and 15 minute drive to CVG international airport in the other direction. Nice little bedroom community called Villa Hills.
Cincinnati huh? So Skyline or Goldstar lol. I'm actually Looking at a house in Hebron at the moment.
That said I also just pulled the trigger on a black Epi Vintage pro so now I just wait.

New SIT Power Steels. Replaced a lighter set of nickel rounds that were on it since I got it (they were spent). An eighth of a turn on the TR to straighten the neck a tad. Tweaked intonation and pickup height. Super low action with zero buzz. It plays and sounds so great!

Some great homes in Hebron, just mind the take off patterns from the airport, it can get loud, landing patterns are tolerable.
Not a Tbird, but still a heck of a bass at a decent price over in the classifieds. Very rare, sound much better than a standard EB IMHO. Hard to find these for less than $1500…

Very nice! That shouldn’t be there for long at that price with the case and shipping, and no tax. I like shorties too. But there are too many other wants ahead of it on my GAS list.
