it’s easier to buy one unfretted, but defretting isn’t too much work.
buy the wood you think looks good, the interwebz bs about wood selection is just like anything else is misquoted by peepholes that haven’t tried anything.
I like wenge for darker wood for neck and board, or even zircote or ebony for the board… none of that dyed all black crap neither, I want to see the natural streaking.
goncalo alves for lighter colour, it has neat streaking and is less boring than maple.
I bought this neck fretted but decided I didn’t need the frets… just to be an environmental dick, I used Brazilian rosewood sapwood for the slot filler… (harvested way before the ban)
