Great stuff, (my wife calls it VileCrap). Pretty much a Cincinnati mainstay as a quick break from the office for lunch, in which case if you’re smart you order it dry (drained and not as juicy) so it doesn’t splash or drip on your shirt and tie. My preference was a Chili 4 way, hold the beans (or coney 4 way if I wanted a hotdog and bun instead of spaghetti). Occasionally I’d order the meal inverted, they reverse the order of the contents so the cheese melts better.

I think some of the Cincinnati chili chains may have opened up in parts of Florida catering to the migratory snowbirds from our area.

I love that stuff, although being from Texas, it's not actually chili if it has beans, but hey. Still good.

Finished getting ten basses in this house dialed back in to perfection. It took some work, but it feels good to have completed the maintenance while I had some down time.

The SBMM Ray 4 ended up getting a new battery and a slight TR tweak.

The LPB Precision only needed a bit of cleaning. The seven year old Chromes on it are nicely broken in. It’s a great bass.

I still need to restring the Aria acoustic guitar. But I’m feeling a bit strung out, so another day for that.

I also have a Squier Strat that needs attention, but not this weekend. And I still need to get the bridge saddles sorted on the Silvertone. The basses up at the mountain place will get some TLC later, probably in the fall.

No color is better than Pelham Blue.

What is "No color" - transparent? Like the lucite basses? So you like that better than Pelham blue. I can dig it.

In truth, with all my basses-since I don't use open strings much-I find tuning the open just slightly flat gives me the rest of the string(s) in tune all the way to the octave. Good enuff. Especially going inandout of typical FL humididity affecting overall intonation.

My VP definitely prefers me to tune on the 1st fret. As I'm playing less open strings these days, anyway, it's fine.

Fantastic and funky band. Brought Bluegrass into the 20th century in many ways. All incredible musicians. The second banjo player Bela Fleck was so good some guy names Victor Wooten played on one of his albums. Sam Bush shows up in places tribute concerts. He was my former bro-in-law's cousin.

For some reason, I always preferred the hippie/jam band version with Courtney Johnson and Curtis Burch. The live album, “Too Late to Turn Back Now” was on our turntable a lot in in the 80s. And I’ve listened to it again a few times in the last couple of months.

Also good to know! I had long hair once upon a time. Ponytail when hot. No Mississippi mud flap for me either. Gravitated to darn near no hair now. Sliding off the top for some reason. Both brain cells overheating I suppose.

I had these licensed hipshot tuners for sale in the classifieds - they were originally for use on my now departed bolt on bird. I decided to try them on my franken-bird to lighten it up a little. I had to get the bushing adapters to make them fit, but I’m pretty satisfied with the end result. Weight came down from 9.7 to a scant 9.5lbs.

Actually, all the fretless shots you’ve been posting has caused me to start thinking about why I don’t have a fretless bird. Who knows, might be my next build.
Unlike you, I don’t think I have the courage or skill to defret a neck, so I’ll just have to buy one already done. When I do, I’ll be pinging you for advice on wood and fretboard selections.

I'm with you. I keep thinking one day I'll get an inexpensive fretless, or find a body and get a neck, but never had. It's on my list, so maybe one day.

Yikes! Getting ready to leave yesterday morning to add some bass to a friend's Sunday service, and felt the strap lock pin loose. Tried tightening it, and realized with minimal effort was able to pull it out. So glad this didn't happen while playing. Could have ended quite badly. Took the 2014 instead, which sounded awesome as usual. I hope everyone's week is off to a good start.

Yes. I've never understood why people say I'm going to BBQ when there is no BBQing going on, just grilling. Every civilized person knows this, right? Words mean things and BBQ is sacred and should not be tossed around carelessly.

A guy a grew up with was a fantastic banjo player. He would got to festivals and if he entered always was in the top 3 it seemed. Knew all kinds of pickers, and seemed like everyone who played banjo. Introduced me to Bill Monroe (may even be related), even went by Burch's house once with him. Played with Tom T. Hall for a bit. All that to say if ever there was a guy who could have made his living playing, he could have. Ended up working at Gibson doing banjo repairs, then Gruhn's a couple times. I never really understood why he didn't play for a living.
