Most folks outside the Cincinnati area would look at you like you had a third eye if you told them this is what Chili looks like…

Great stuff, (my wife calls it VileCrap). Pretty much a Cincinnati mainstay as a quick break from the office for lunch, in which case if you’re smart you order it dry (drained and not as juicy) so it doesn’t splash or drip on your shirt and tie. My preference was a Chili 4 way, hold the beans (or coney 4 way if I wanted a hotdog and bun instead of spaghetti). Occasionally I’d order the meal inverted, they reverse the order of the contents so the cheese melts better.

I think some of the Cincinnati chili chains may have opened up in parts of Florida catering to the migratory snowbirds from our area.

Definitely agree; the Classic Pro sounds the best in this context. It's lows are felt, but still has the Bird growl in it. The Vintage was also great to hear - nice bell chime (even with the tone rolled off), still retains its clarity. The IV is good in its right, but you can tell it lacks a lot in comparison to the other two. I'd harbour it down to its pickups rather than its construction (bolt on vs Neck through).

In 2016, when i was working at my local music store (steve's Music in Montreal, Canada), there was an older Gent who came in with his Gibson Grabber to have it fixed. Sadly, we weren't able to do the fixes, so he came back to get it, very understanding. On a whim, i gave him a paper with my name & number, & mentioned if ever he wanted to sell it, i'd be interested in buying (knowing full well how much these went for on used market online). SIX years pass, & in all that time, i had forgotten about it. Until last October 2022, when we got in touch, & met up late in the month. I originally bought it for 400$ from him (which is what he was asking for), but after discovering the truss rod was broken, & it'd have to be fixed (or possibly a new neck built entirely), he refunded me 200$. So i am the proud owner of a 1975 Gibson Grabber, in wine red. Aside from the broken rod (which i'll just fix with stewmac rod saver tool), a refret with the correct fret size, & some dings/scratches all around the body, it's all original & sounds killer! Though i have swapped the output jack for a switchcraft, & replaced the saddle height screws with shorter allen ajustable ones (kept the original parts in the case, the output was too loose to keep a good connection, & well the infamous tall saddle screws will cut my hand if i rest against it while playing).

Anyway, here's a picture

^^^This makes it my third Grabber bass; the first being the one i built in 2014-2015, the 2nd being a 70's copy branded Maya (which i've modified/updated parts). But none sound like this one growls.

Quoting myself because i forgot to mention: but this 1975 Gibson grabber came with its original, & very tolex worn, hardcase with purple plush interior (which still looks great considering its age). All this for 200$ CAD, what a deal i got indeed (even though i'm investing about 450$ total in its fix - since the truss rod tool is costly). Still lucked out, i'm glad the electronics work, i can keep those original pots, & the pickup has a nice midrange growl to it. Definitely the Gibson Pbass with a twist, Love it!

Overall, I'd say good pickups.
But for me, I've been spoiled by the Lull T-Bass pickups in my Fender.

Before the Stonewalls, the Roscoe had a bartolini T4CBC. I actually prefer the bart over the Stonewall WRT tone and output.

Thanks for the review. Those have been discussed here randomly but none of us ever pulled the trigger.

No, it’s in Ohio.
But The Cincinnati Ohio International Airport is in Kentucky. However, its call letters are CVG which stands for Covington. Except it’s not in the city of Covington either (not even in the same county) it’s in Hebron, Kentucky. Oh, and by the way, the Ohio River, which separates Cincinnati from Northern Kentucky, actually belongs to Kentucky not Ohio. London and Paris are also in Kentucky, but Moscow is in Ohio. Confused yet?

Thanks for doing that.
I listened first half on VP, then CP then all on IV, then 2nd half on VP then CP.

Firstly, I’d be happy with all of them. Not sure if we are comparing the pickups or the strings but I think the IV with tapes comes 3rd for me.
Less sure on the other two. But I have the CP winning, nice and even all the way through where there was something I wasn’t 100% sold on the VP - particularly in the first third of the song.
