We got to walk through the loaded (with dummy missiles, one assumes) bomb bay of a SAC Stratofortress, but there were armed guards keeping you from approaching anything forward.

I still miss the TR-2 I learned to drive in. No radio, no heater, no top that would stay on, side curtains, no door locks. The only thing more purely propulsion is a motorcycle. Which is probably why I ride most days now. I sure don't miss the Prince.

Tonight we had a TSC's rehearsal. All indications are that our new prospective drummer Phil is working out. (3rd rehearsal) He's into it, catching on in good fashion and likes our band - score! 
And, he's agree to take on a three-set show in Sept. (30 songs) As I would have accepted a similar challenge, that cinched the deal for me.

In the Australian War Memorial (AWM) in Canberra (worth a visit if you are ever near) they have a exhibit where you go into a little room and they simulate flying in a Lancaster Bomber including open bomb doors and film of the falling bombs. Bloody loud in those old bombers!

During my Navy days I had the “opportunity” to be ferried from one place to another in a C-130. The first thing you realize is how much insulation is used in commercial aircraft; those things are loud. The load master gave all the passengers disposable foam earplugs. Also cold.
We rode in C47s(RD5), once in a Convair 240, and once-Japan to The Philippines-in the Admiral's Constellation.
Someone here could appreciate this.
