The powersteels definitely brightened up the 2015. A good cleaning, oiled the finger board, made sure the ball ends were straight , and didn’t mess up Marshall’s setup. I left intonation for tomorrow.

When I turn a VP into a 64 IV, I’ll take your suggestion on powerwounds.

I've not tried the PWs on a VP, but my burst VP has Power Steels and sounds fantastic.

Thought i'd leave this here, in case anyone was looking to upgrade, or needed replacement pickups for their epiphone/Gibson thunderbirds.

I know this chrome "vintage" styled one has been mentionned years back;
- Thunderbird Bass Pickup Vintage Style for Gibson,Chrome/Nick,

But the same site also carries:
The 2015 pickup style (8 alnico 5 rods, 4 conductor cable),
Eric Custom Alnico 5 Rod,Thundbird Bass Pickup,Neck,for Gibs (they also have for bridge)

The Black ceramic post 88' style soapbar pickups,
Eric Custom Thundbird Bass Pickup,Neck,for Gibson Thunderbir (also have bridge version)

& also a gibson ceramic soapbar in epiphone casing.

How much does this epiphone set sound like the gibson classic black pickups, I've no clue, though am tempted to swap out the Deep Sixx epis from my UnGothed Bird. Honestly, i've no clue how any of the modern pickups sound, whereas the chrome vintage vibe one, @godofthunder59 has posted a short video demo of it when he got his, & it does sound good & clear (from what i can tell through my studio speakers).

All this, if anyone wanted an inexpensive alternative to replacing their pickups (in case maybe they fizzled out & you wanted to keep the same look/tone).

I know/played with a woman who had a band(before knowing her) voted as the worse band in SF at that time. Fun to improvise with but doing anything cool twice? (fugidaboudit!) Here's one song that we recorded in rehearsal - a decent version of it anyway. (and never again) I was playing my Factorbird fretless at the time. Catherine played guitar & sang - and wrote the lyrics. I think it could be covered by a band today and kill.

There was a Rick Turner fretless (someone said Alembic prototype) at the music store on Santa Cruz we went to on Saturday. I don't play fretless much but I had to try it.
That was a very nice instrument. It just had a single Bartolini humbucker and IIRC a Badass bridge.

Shop Dave told me it was an Alembic prototype.
