I don’t understand ‘dry suit’ I’ve only seen or heard about ‘wet suits’.
Could you give me a short explanation?




I actually bought it, and read it. I enjoyed it, Miles’ take on Dragons, Dragon Lords and their lore was interesting to me.

My kids tell me I’m not in the YF demographic and even so, I found it a good read.

Once my ‘unread’ pile reduces some I plan on buying another one.

I am into fantasy and historical fiction and semi fiction though, so these fit in. My other books are more into auto/biographies and sports, guitars/basses and cars fact books.

I’m not so much into fantasy. LOTR when I was young was about it for me. But historical fiction, detectives and music bios keep my to be read list pretty full.

I brought this home yesterday, Epiphone 60s (vintage pro)Thunderbird number four! That makes two white and two tobacco sunburst As you all know I think very highly of these basses and I still think that it is the best Thunderbird out there and the best built since the original 63-65 birds. Still a bargain at $749 MAP. These next to my 60s Nonreverse Thunderbirds are my favorite bass and I find myself playing them more and more.View attachment 5157255 View attachment 5157256

A drysuit is sealed up so you stay dry. It's got a layer of air between the water and the diver, and it's what you do for water below a certain temperature to keep from freezing. Ice divers use them, for example.

I friend's sister had one in a dusty blue. She kept it through med school and then law school. I think it had a 318, but I wonder if she ever realized she should have kept it!

We had that going here a few years ago, but I don't remember exactly what it was about. And searching is not allowed.

Bass players need decent straps like guitarists? Who knew? Do all bands even have bass players?

I appreciate anyone who can write a novel. Most of my job is communication so I can write a decent email, briefing, or technical architecture description, but not a novel. I don’t have the persistence in that area. Congratulations!

I use extra long 4" wide Levy's straps pretty much exclusively. My brother thinks I am a freak for where I like the bass to be. It is the ape factor.

Miles, you’re such an incredible person! With all the turmoil and disruptive things facing kids and young adults these days it’s so neat that you’re creating a release for them so they can escape for a few hours a week. Beats the snot out of playing first person shoot ‘em ups and grand theft auto videos all day long.

No. But the inspiration for it was an insane drug deal a friend and I were involved in circa 1974. The first chapter is all true right up to the point where I died. (Hint: IRL, I didn't die. AFAICT.)

Nice! I love both of mine and am forever grateful you took the time talking with me and pointing me to the VPs. If I could not have my '64 and could only have one bass, it would be a VP. The white one has GHS flats and the used burst has SIT Super Steels and both sound amazing. If they were only in nitro instead of poly.... But you can't generally have everything. Not that the poly feels bad, I just love the feel of old nitro.

You may be onto something. When they get them in, they may stop displaying them and just set them aside for when Scott comes in!

Another 60s bird (refinished in a Barbie pink and missing all its frets) was found beheaded on an empty stage. Who would do such a dastardly deed? 427 pages, 34 muscle cars, 219 bumbling acts, 13 assaults by Cato, and 42 attempts at assassination by his own superior later, an undead Chief Inspector Clouseau solves the Case of the Decapitated Pink Panther; it was the floor when the foolish bird's headstock decided to floor dive from bassist Jean Ent Whistler's shoulder height during a performance of Boris the Spider.
The mystery of the frets was never solved, despite clear imprints of bunny slippers in the sawdust on the stage.

Thanks Irv! The PA system at Winters is marginal and totally DIY - no sound person and it takes a while to get everything to work as it should when arriving for the night. (all monitors etc) Needless to say, it has its limits so the "sweet-spot" live is to gauge the band level to the vocal mics (Cherie's especially) If the band is too loud - the PA/vocal mics can't project out front and that's what we strive to do. Most bands that play there are way loud and you can never make out lyrics. If pushed they blame it on Winters' when it's actually about them not being able to play to the vocals. We (BG & TSC's) try to keep the vocals up front, but it's always a challenge at Winters'.

TSC's new drummer Phil (who saw/heard BG for the 1st time) commented that both bands (TSC's & BG) were sophisticated music. I'll accept that -

The balance is pretty good, but yeaht sounds like an old PA. I couldn't make out what she was saying between songs.

In the music store at the GTG I played a bunch of different basses including 60's Tbirds and then I grabbed Dave's black VP. It compared well against anything there IMO.
