New neck day! I bought an Epi IV neck from @Bassmike62 and it arrived today. Eleven days UPS ground from Quebec. Not bad.

Mike packed it well.

It’s in great shape! Not a mark on it. Nicely finished frets. The fret-wear is superficial and they’ll look new when polished. And the rosewood board is nice and dark how I like it. It’ll clean up great.

It’ll be part of my first semi-build. I want to try a Reverse II with a Gibson Vintage pickup in the 60’s position. Painted Pelham Blue of course.

Geo's VFR800 inside Winters' this afternoon. Tempted to do a 'burn-out' but as most VFR owners, I'm a responsible adult. Actual biker burnout on floor from Winters' past. It's my favorite pic of my bike so far!

Actually CJ rode it in from the front doors - side door would be a little tight. I let him take it for a short spin and knew he's do that upon his return. There's a long (quarter mile) straight, secluded 2 lane (in one direction) section off of Skyline Blvd that leads to HW280 south above Pacifica, and as I always do - he hit 100mph there.

Is it just me or does it seem odd that in the classifieds there is a disproportionate number of boutique style bases for sale? It seems unusual given the sheer number of fenders and more common basses that should be there in much higher numbers. It almost seems as though people buy these very unique boutique basses and don't keep them. You would think there would be 20 fenders for every boutique bass, but that is not the case. Or so it seems.

Maybe because there's a sort of misunderstanding that an expensive, exotic bass will make one a better player and once the buyer realizes that isn't the case - they sell it and return to playing their non-boutique bass. It also depends on how one thinks of the term "boutique". There are basses in all price-ranges, from cheap to expensive but not necessarily 'boutique'. Terms like "pro-level" may be a better handle for a bass like a Sadowski and/or Lull that is not really exotic, but is more pricy and used by many pro's.

This is an exotic boutique bass in all respects. (Ritter) Will it make you a better player? Will you play it at your local blues dive? ah.., no on both counts.

Yeah, I'm no expert, but I'm not sure it would be worth fixing with that nasty break. The hardware is worth that price IMO and would just ask him to send that.
