That was Joe West @chromium but I don't know if he's still a member here on TB, he is on LBO, may have posted it there, he did later sell it..........

Found it!
Better check Marshall for a pulse!

I have mod-bars on two Epis that have silks. Works great but don’t think I’ll buy more since the price now is $45 each delivered. I got two delivered for $30 last time.

GIBSON® EPIPHONE® BASS BRIDGE 3-POINT (MOD-BAR!) | eBay

Do these mod bars really make the tone and sustain better then?? Are there any sound examples on Vs off?? These do intrigue me as well as having a go and making something similar too.

I use them to get the ball-ends further away from the saddles - so the wrap/silk isn't sitting in the saddle grooves: it's not always the case but when that's happening it can affect how the string "works" and that, in turn, can make the strings sound different to expected/odd/die really quickly/feel weird and not respond how I'm used to. The bars are a stand-off that makes the 3-points work a little better, as far as I'm concerned.

Ok that's good to know. My strings don't have silks so it's just string sitting on the saddles.

Don’t know for sure, but I assume it’s TKL, although it doesn’t say TKL anywhere. It has a made in Canada label. The hardware and handle are the same as what is on the smaller Canadian TKL made Epiphone case that came with my Pelham Blue LE Custom Shop reverse. The interior lining, exterior Tolex, and the construction are all the same.

Interior is 52” long, 15” wide (23 1/2” long bottom section). The exterior is 53 3/4” long, 17 1/2” wide, 4 inches deep.

@godofthunder59 may know for sure as he owned the bass early on.

Definitely looks like a older Epiphone case to me.

@Nocturnal
hi Andy, if I recall a buddy/neighbor of yours built up a stock white BaCH II into a PB IV that came out REALLY nice but I can’t find the link to that build…would you happen to have by chance?…..trying to remember the factory stock h/s faceplate and logo…..thx!…

Hey Chuck! He has a webpage somewhere that details the full build and has lots of pictures. I will see if I can find it later today. His Bach really turned out quite nice, and it looks like the makeover on yours turned out great as well!!

I'm going to drill holes and press/glue the tailpiece post inserts in to my 2013 BlueBird and this Greco. If the locking posts give the little extra solidity and security I'm after for the 3 points in conjunction with the tailpieces I'll just go that route when I get Birds in future. I have these bars with holes drilled that sit under/at the back of the 3 points that ensure the string wrap doesn't sit in the saddle grooves but I like the fact I have adjusted the Greco bridge absolutely flat and with the tailpiece on that bass I've got a great break angle and lovely tension on the strings. Am only thinking to replace that tailpiece as I had a tunematic type one on my Les Paul Bass and that thing had incredible tone.
So you are adding tailpieces that sit on posts?

Yeah, I'd love to have an Alembic but the prices are bonkers. I'm happy to have scored my 8-string BecVar for the price I did, since the Alembics will likely never be in a price range I can justify. And sadly, same with the old T-birds, the NRs, when they do come up, seem to be $6-7k and up.

Point me to those!
I kinda wanted an Alembic back in the early 1980s when Stanley Clarke was playing one a lot. He was another influence on how I hear the world.

It wouldn't get played at all, so I don't want one any more.
