Thunderbird Club

Just because I’m maxed out on Bass acquisitions for the immediate future does not mean I stop looking.
This one is on FB marketplace just one state away in NC. It looks like a legit 76 bicentennial..although maybe stored in a crawl space for years.
The guy is asking for offers so who knows.

That is a really good price for these times. I don’t know what it is about people selling Thunderbirds near you. Don’t they research values? Is it hot? You should get it.

I had contacted Gibson asking the following question:
“I purchased two of your “Vintage re-issue Thunderbird” pickups. I noticed that they only come as bridge position (lead) units.

Is there any way I can purchase one of the neck (rhythm) position vintage reissue pickups with chrome covers? I believe these would be what is found in the neck position of the current “non-reverse” Thunderbird basses.”

Response from Gibson:

“Thanks for reaching out. The Gibson Thunderbird Reissue Pickup offered through the Gibson Pickup Shop is meant to be used in any position. This would be the only vintage style Thunderbird pickup we offer for sale. Thanks again!”

So now we know.

Someone is trying to get kicked out of TB.

Oh yeah, guys with big white hats carrying pitchforks will be chasing my girlie butt later today - My only reprieve would be to recant and swear to Tort, Flats and a P..........

Burn me at the stake, I'm a heretic! :woot:

Yer the bestest.
I get a bit tired of, “You have to have a P! All your favorite songs were recorded with a P!”
Please list all the songs Phil Lesh, Jack Casady, and Paul McCartney recorded with a P. I’ll give them Stu Cook and Duck Dunn.

I jest of course, but over the years there's been a lot of great music made in all genres that didn't involve the most popular brand.......

For example, Mountain

Feel free to toss a few more :)

Earl Slick used a few different brand guitars other than Fender or Gibson, and Gale Ann Dorsey also used a couple different basses. (well... MM is originally Leo...)
