Never had that 'pleasure'.Those look like sidewinder pickups.....unless they're just covers?
13-speeds are great, almost as good as 18s![]()
No. Never needed to. Always had plenty of others do that for me.Any of you actually try flipping yourself the bird?
wait, I mean playing with the other hand?
semantically making poor choices today…
Same here on most accounts. I learned right just due to instrument availabilityNo. Never needed to. Always had plenty of others do that for me.
I'm a lefty and play right. I've tried a few times to play lefty style, but I might as well been playing with my feet. That said, I suppose I could pull off some simple Rush songs playing lefty. Did I say Rush? I meant ZZ Top. But some practice would definitely be needed.

My wife did a bit of lithography. I only did relief and intaglio. These days, it’s 90% relief.
In an icy winter I'd be dreading it
Hey fellas and ladies,
I’m starting to dabble in bass (guitarist) and really enjoy the instrument quite a bit.
I just got a battered old Orville by Gibson T-bird. Normally I’d play a mustang bass because I love Dee Dee Ramone’s sound when he used one. Also my brother lets me borrow his precision bass.
Anyways, I want to get this sounding closer to a vintage model. It has 89 era Gibson pickups I believe with the ceramic magnets.
I see I’m too late to grab a set from thunderbucker ranch… I want something that gets that vintage grind but isn’t crazy hot.
I see Gibson reissued t bird pickups but only in one output. I’m trying to spend a little less than the Lollar and Lull offerings but the eyguitars pickups I’ve seen mentioned seem like a potential compromise given the lack of potting?
I’ve done quite a few searches and read a lot but I figured I’d see if the Gibson reissues were well regarded? Or what outputs to chase for a more vintage tone?
If the lollars or whatever are really the only ones getting the real vibe I’ll pony up but want to check with the resident experts first.
sorry for the long winded first post. Hopefully I’ll be able to contribute more than questions soon!
Sincerely,
B

I figure when my car is done, it will have two perfect anti-theft devices. The first is a manual choke. Nobody knows what that is any more. The second is a manual transmission. A three on the tree would completely flummox nearly everyone these days.I'd like one as well. You could let it set out with the keys in it and hardly anyone (no one under 45 anyway), would be able to get it going. It would be a great youbube moment watching them try to get it in "drive."
Marshall in the mosh!I was 5’8” and all of 135 pounds. I survived and am here to tell the tale. The Clash. The Vibrators….
Welcome to our world. Any excuse to talk about Thunderbirds is good, so ask away.Hey fellas and ladies,

Marshall in the mosh!
I was a lean mean strapping 170 pound 6 foot tall football athlete back in my mosh curious days. And even then I never joined the fray, always looked like a great place for a sucker punch.
Never had that 'pleasure'.
Better pics will be forthcoming - Bond Girl from last night at The Baltic Kiss in Pt Richmond -

Welcome here
I'll keep it to the point, buy the Gibson re-issue pickups, they are the best out there for price and they sound great.
Gibson pickups in the 2021 Non Reverse, very similar to your Orville in construction.
Gibson pickups in an Epiphone Vintage Pro.
Thanks a million!
I was getting a little hung up on the similar impedance in each position (Les Paul player where that’s almost a necessity) but I’ll take the word of the experts. Also the price isn’t bad at all.
Do you have preferred pot values for the 60s tones? I’m seeing some different/conflicting info out there so far.
my three point bridge also may need a replacement. Looks like the a string saddle is kind of jacked up - literally.
Thank you all for the warm welcome
All the Epi's I have are 500K pots and linear taper.I'll have to have a look at a couple of my Birds for pot values, but I'm hoping some of my guys here will chime in too.
We encourage questions here so do feel free to ask, the "search" function isn't great.
Post us a picture of your Orville when you have a chance I will add you to the club if you like.
