Why short scale? My Dano is 34" scale and all the other low cost goodies.

My mind may be slipping, but IIRC my Longhorn (which is what she plays) is a short scale, maybe 32” or less. I’d have to pull it out of storage to check, so not gonna happen today.

I do believe they made both scales.

I personally want to be known for my playing ability and great tone and don't want what I wear to distract from the afore mentioned priorities, and not be eye candy to be objectified.

Who am I kidding....

In the last band I was in, the singer told me that I was the "eye candy" in the band. That should give you an idea of how attractive our band was.

Every performer has their schtick, some more in your face than others, but as long as they deliver the goods (and she does) I can get past it.

Sounds great!

It's hard to beat - the body is a mid-'60s mahogany Teisco Del Rey short-scale married to an Epi Goth neck with a Guild RI Darkstar pu. I can't recall how I determined the pu pole position, but it couldn't be in a sweeter-spot!

I get that-for a primarily guitarist. I 'sling' my bass fairly low(which makes it awkward to play sitting-I don't),but my guitar "abilities" are "I gots A and E and I'm workin' on D."

I'd say I'm primarily a bassist. The inspiration comes from Genesis!

I'd love to see that as a build. I'm still contemplating my RD with Bird headstock for a one off build....

But sat it up on my epi T bird first for some possible future mods

It's always been part of what makes Dano's unique both in construction and sound.

The Lindert Locomotive also used masonite. I did work on this one for a client. It was a heavy beast and the owner wanted it lightened. I cut a new core of basswood with expanded cavities and cut a top & back of luan /mahogany ply. I have a Reverend Rumblefish 5L bass in faux Blackwood. I generically refer to it as Formica, just as I do with Dano basses (at least the reissues). I have no idea what either are actually made out of, but to me it’s all Formica. Like all facial tissues are Kleenex and all adhesive bandages are Band-aids. I suspect there's a big difference between Masonite and Formica but without researching it I’m clueless.

Looks like the bridge is mounted off center. I've seen some abominations on the modshop.

It seems like the modshop basses are based on factory seconds. They have a disclaimer about minor finish flaws. Pretty smart idea IMO.

Dano "short-horn" DC reissues are long-scale. (34") Originals were ss.

My '68 Dano made Silvertone 1443 Hornets & Corral Deluxe Bass are 34" scale.
