Fender Jazz Bass 1972 - Sunburst | Reverb

Quite the closet queen here.

Didn’t someone just get a ‘72 earlier this year.

That one is as clean as they come - but not for that price.

Seems to be the way around here.

NGD! I never thought I'd go this route, but it became pretty obvious I'd be waiting indefinitely for another run of lefty basses. Watching the Johnny Marr interview on That Pedal Show inspired me to rethink guitar and relearn it. It's been ages. Gibson originally offered me a guitar, but I wasn't interested at the time. But now I'm excited. They were backordered until the Spring, but yesterday I was looking at something at the Gibson site and went over to this '61 Standard page and saw lefties in stock. I emailed my contact and he confirmed they did do an unexpected run and said I should be receiving this today and sent me a tracking number. I thought he meant the tracking number, but it was out for delivery. What a surprise.

Awesome!

Yes, the black one is about 1 lb heavier.

If you really want, swap the pickups between both your black & white VPs. Maybe the Gemini pickups will prove to being a good option (or they may still leave you feeling eh.) & in that case, you can least say: you haven't found THE pickups for your black VP.

Within my two pbasses that had the most pickup swaps, my main one had Duncan Quarter pounders for a long time, until i wasn't gelling with em (too much overload in my signal). So that one got hot for pbass by duncans & those lasted longer (until now that is). My P/J also had a QP p/j set & i found it wasn't great. Then i swapped for a no brand ceramic magnet split p & a hot stack J in the bridge & that combo lasted until August this year (which is when i saw Guns & Roses live). My main bass now sports a Pegcity pickup Pbass split - tone found, its THE pbass tone for that particular bass. My orange p/j now sports a QP split P again (still with the hot stack J in the bridge), & i went with that because while watching Guns, i was studying Duff's basses & to my surprise, he has that combo in his P/J basses. Figured i'd try out, & boom - great P/J tone in my own bass too - it was always the idea of making it a Duff tribute P/J bass.

With all that, i do believe you'll find the pickups that'll suit that bass.

Probably not gonna do it. The 760’s in the white one are surely no different (or only insignificantly different) than the 760’s that the black one came with new. Plus, the white one is just so perfect sounding, and I have done nothing but put new strings on it right after I got it from GC for a grand total of $346.00 I figure I should have at least one bass that came the way it was made. I think only my 4003S/5 is the only other bass with its original pickups. Which is another one that once I stuck the right strings for it, on it, it was done!

That was my thinking on my pristine black VP with 760s. I have the second black VP that I put the SDs into. Theoretically, they should be identical otherwise.

Vintage Auto Vinyl Straps - Guitar Straps

Just found out about these via the Holeyboard guy. I just bought a strap for my burst Greco or I'd be interested in the Barracuda Gold strap. Except the site doesn't mention length. I have a query in. I have a Dunlop 67" and occasionally I wish it were an inch or two longer. Ahem, etc.
