Thunderbird Club

A heads up for anyone in the vicinity... Monday January 1st at Winters' Tavern Pacifica from 3-5 pm - Geo's Annual B-day Bash with The Sean Conneries and special guest Bond Girl Cherie Lebow. So sleep in, have a Bloody Mary and head over to Winters' for a chill/low-key start of 2024.

Too early to drop a hint?
Lots to do here, Food, Museums, Beer, some great music stores including Emerald City Guitars, Mike and Mike's Guitar Bar, The bass shop and Veronica's basement.........
i could have our guitarist and drummer show up for a jam as well.

Sorry V. I don’t mean to be a pain. But it would be really helpful if we can select a date. My work calendar books several months out.

A new question for the speaker gurus. I wired up the 2 EVM 15L 8ohm speakers in parallel (speaker to speaker to jack). I get a DCR of 2.5 ohms. That’s a bit low for a 4 ohm cab. But, the main issue is the output is low and with massive vibrato. Any ideas? I do have another set of speakers if those are bad.

I tested the 200S with another cab and it’s not an amp issue.

A true vibrato? As in frequency modulation? That's wild. Does this occur at low volumes? I have (once that I can recall) seen a case where feedback was starting to happen at a frequency very close to what one of the string's open pitch was. The result was the string would wander back and forth between its nominal pitch and the nominal feedback pitch - causing vibrato. But that wasn't at a low volume. You might try the cab on its face, too.

Does this happen regardless of what note you're playing?

If these are the non-soldered clips, does each of the two speakers have the same DCR when measured separately? Does it happen with each speaker wired up separately, assuming you can run the amp into 8 ohms?

I'm assuming all the speaker bolts/nuts are properly tightened.

A true vibrato? As in frequency modulation? Well, maybe not frequency modulation. Maybe more chorus volume modulation. It happens regardless how far I am from the speaker, even with my back turned 15 feet away.

Does this occur at low volumes? Yes, but worse as the amp is turned up.

Does this happen regardless of what note you're playing? Yes

If these are the non-soldered clips, does each of the two speakers have the same DCR when measured separately? No, one measures 6.2 and the other is 5.2 ohms.

Does it happen with each speaker wired up separately, assuming you can run the amp into 8 ohms? The amp can handle 4 or 8 ohm cabs. I haven't tried this as it requires me pulling the speakers out of the cab. I can try, but it will take some time.

I'm assuming all the speaker bolts/nuts are properly tightened. Yes, torqued.
