May be out of phase?

I tested to make sure that the + really was positive on both speakers. I did that by connecting a 9v battery to the leads and seeing if the cone moved outwards vs inwards. Wired positive to positive, negative to negative, and same to jack.

A true vibrato? As in frequency modulation? Well, maybe not frequency modulation. Maybe more chorus volume modulation. It happens regardless how far I am from the speaker, even with my back turned 15 feet away.

Does this occur at low volumes? Yes, but worse as the amp is turned up.

Does this happen regardless of what note you're playing? Yes

If these are the non-soldered clips, does each of the two speakers have the same DCR when measured separately? No, one measures 6.2 and the other is 5.2 ohms.

Does it happen with each speaker wired up separately, assuming you can run the amp into 8 ohms? The amp can handle 4 or 8 ohm cabs. I haven't tried this as it requires me pulling the speakers out of the cab. I can try, but it will take some time.

I'm assuming all the speaker bolts/nuts are properly tightened. Yes, torqued.

For future reference, I always try each speaker independently before installing it. It doesn't catch everything, but it catches some things.

Many of them just aren't interested. Not that I can blame them. The joy of tuning with a screw driver and a stop watch isn't something they ever experienced.

Why did you have to do that? The PCM or computer thingy does that now. What kind of crazy car was that?

You banged on it to free a float didn't you? And he's thinking, "Who thinks that does anything? This nut actually thinks hitting it will fix something."

I mentioned before how I said at a car dealer that I liked pickups in part because I can change plugs, and basic maintenance is generally easier. The young lady doing the paperwork looked shocked and said with astonishment, "You know how to change spark plugs?" It was hard not to laugh since it's hardly difficult. But she obviously doesn't know anyone who could. Or she thought I looked exceptionally stupid, but let's just assume the former.
