I have a little more leeway on treble geetar’s than I do with base geetars.

It turns out the only 7ender geetar’s I like are telecaster’s. But I like them a whole lot. There is one that’s not pictured…


My favorite treble geetars are…

1) Rickenbacker 650D
2) Gibson Flying V
3) Epiphone Crestwood/Wilshire/Coronet
4) Gibson SG
5) 7ender Telecaster

I don’t think I have 5 favorite base geetars, let’s see… if I separate them into types maybe..

1) Gibson NR Thunderbird
2) Rickenbacker 4004
3) Rickenbacker 4003
4) Gibson/Epiphone Reverse Thunderbird
5) 7enderBirds all lumped together including my DCboid rounds out fifth

I mentioned before how I said at a car dealer that I liked pickups in part because I can change plugs, and basic maintenance is generally easier. The young lady doing the paperwork looked shocked and said with astonishment, "You know how to change spark plugs?" It was hard not to laugh since it's hardly difficult. But she obviously doesn't know anyone who could. Or she thought I looked exceptionally stupid, but let's just assume the former.

Nothing is set at all just now so......
I was thinking about late July or early August, the weather here is usually quite nice and if anyone's going to explore a little and stay a couple days, that will help. I don't have anything on my books yet for shows that far out, but I'd schedule anything that comes up around the GTG.

Alright weird electronicle question for those that believe in science….


Neck pickup sounds glorious in the neck position of the 3 way switch.

middle position sounds almost the same but a little different… and both pickups are in play.

here’s the funny part, in the bridge position the pickup has half to 1/3rd the volume, sounds nice but not quite right…

neck pickup is reading on the 200k setting at 8.7k

bridge pickup will not read at all on the 200k setting.

switching to 2000k setting I’m reading 952.

center position I’m reading at 200k 8.7.

what is going on with the bridge pickup?

near as I can figure these are single coils and the 47 year old wiring looks to be unmolested and correct although the 3 way switch is one I’m not familiar with, it’s the box type vs the Gibson/switchcraft type.

Try it with the leads not on the pot?
Had one do that once and just needed the tail wire redone with the iron right where it met the wire back into the winding

I may need to learn how these are constructed, the wires are not readily accessible at the pickup end

This is the neck but same construction on the bridge
