the things we love to regret…. paid 250 bucks with trays, tort and ohsc….hated tort back then (outgrew that thankfully since it's such a classic look today)........first thing I did was replace that pup with the DiMarzio (fitted the coil split switch as well) and later replaced the PG...at one point it wore the Badass II bridge from my Gretsch Committee but thankfully that bridge found its way back before that P got stolen in 81.....
point being, if you were a bass, you didn't want to be owned by me back then....![]()
Well. Shoot. Inverness Green looks blue in a lot of pics. And the Faded Pelham Blue looks like green in many pics. Lighting is weird that way. Silver Frost looks good too. I’ll still get one. But I’m not going to rush. I’m really happy they are finally listening. And making some cool stuff. I’ll have Geo help me dye the FB.
The body, neck, and face (modified) are the only original things here. Oh, the trem unit, but the handle is a replacement.I ain’t got nothin.
Only thing that comes close is my Precision body which is a ‘71.
Nothing else original about it.

The Hagström has very early SDS-1 pickups from Dimarzio.Everybody modded their basses then. It initially had to do with the major brands limited variety and also the initiation of aftermarket parts like the Leo Quan Badass and Schaller 3D bridges. DiMarzio was the aftermarket pu of choice. After the 'move to nature'/hippy late '60s - many stripped the paint off their guitars/basses to expose "natural" wood. Once Fender saw that trend - they produced "natural" finishes ('70s), abet with thick poly clear-coats. Same with players adding pu's - Fender was 'off-the-back' finally producing a P/J combo - the Japanese companies were selling them years before Fender's appeared. These days - there are a huge number of bass options brand new and also a huge number of aftermarket parts. Add to that (knowing anything about tb) the DIY bug is viral.
I have my sights on an ember red one. I just wish Gibson would make a version. I just love the feel of lacquer

We are looking at the age of $1300 Epis and $3000 Gibsons. Get them now while you can. Nothing is getting cheaper.Gibson will charge a kidney and then some.

Some how you naming the Greco escaped me. That is excellent! There's the Nikki Monninger signature model, right there.
Seeing her playing that bass in videos is what prompted me to name the red Greco "Nikki".
