Thunderbird Club

Just to be clear, Marshall is getting excited about seeing Nikki and the band, not about me being his date, I think.

I have you as first right of refusal if I ever decide to sell my 68 P. It would make the perfect book end to your J.
So you being Marshall's date is not really the news part of the post? That's how rumors ("Facebook facts") get started. :smug: Might be better than his wife finding the real reason he's going....

Thank you, it is a beauty.

the things we love to regret…. paid 250 bucks with trays, tort and ohsc….hated tort back then (outgrew that thankfully since it's such a classic look today)........first thing I did was replace that pup with the DiMarzio (fitted the coil split switch as well) and later replaced the PG...at one point it wore the Badass II bridge from my Gretsch Committee but thankfully that bridge found its way back before that P got stolen in 81.....:banghead:
point being, if you were a bass, you didn't want to be owned by me back then....:rollno:
I think everyone replaced stock Fender pickups either side of 1980. I sure did. You just took it a step, and another step, and another step beyond all that. The original Dr. Frankenstein! My '78 P (with A neck) with the DiMarzios got stollen as well. Likely by some 14 yr old who had dragged it home and stored it in a leaky shed.

Would love to see one in Alpine White with gold hardware scheme as with this special edition Bicentennial Firebird from 77- note this one is an original and has since yellowed as that color is wont to do_

Would look rather phenomenal not-yellowed as with this Lizzy Hale Explorer-

Oeufs á la niege!!
Thank you for wearing shoes.

Guess I'll have to take a picture of the EB-2 (1968ish but not entirely certain) and the 2015 Thunderbird. That's 47 years. The oldest musical item I have is a 1949 Gibson BR-9 amp, so that's 19 years and 66 years. It would fit in the family portrait. For now, the 2015 Thunderbird is the newest.
Dude! BR-9!

The Supertone bridge arrived, but from a different seller! Direct drop in! The bridge cover arrived a while back, it was a direct fit, outside of the a saddle rattling against the top on the old bridge. no issues outside of trial and error with the unlabeled metric/imperial set of screws

The guys at guitarhey on ebay not only sent me my package 9 days later than expected, but the wrong item all together. I ended up getting a Hipshot Kickass from them instead. No big deal, ordered one in Nickel from Prospecstrings which were way more local (Montreal), AND got my item in 2 days! really happy how it turned out.

Although I have a good little collection of early ‘70’s J’s and P’s, none are all original, all have a non-stock bridge, and, although I have the parts to make some back to “Fender Parts” original, those parts are not original to the bass. I do not have a set of original J-pickups, only the neck (maybe bridge) one from my ‘70, and I think it would need to be re-wound, as it shows open circuit on a meter. I do have original early ‘70’s P pickups, and I think I can put one of my P’s back 100%, a1973, sans finish. It is now white blonde.

The only 100% original Fender I have is a 1973 Mustang, and that is officially for sale starting today.

1964 and 2019. I wish I still had the Silvertone Spanish guitar Mom bought circa 1960 but it was stolen or “lost” by shady apartment management employees in a big fiasco, along with my 10 speed. 55 freaking years apart, and I was born in '55!

My oldest bass is a 1988 Greco. So far.

I sure like the Hag Miles. But I’m pretty sure I’ve told you that.

That turned out nice. An economical solution to intonation issues. And the cover hides enough of the bridge to maintain a vintage look.

Only thing that comes close is my Precision body which is a ‘71.
Nothing else original about it.
