Thunderbird Club

Binding is splitting, neck is not stable,
And needs a refret.
It’s an all parts neck I got used on the cheap.
I sold the original cause it was a B profile. Just too big a profile for me.
And that neck needed work as well.
I’m a fan of the A neck also. I have tiny hands. I can use a 1.625 neck, but I seem to struggle with the 1.75
Add some arthritis and a few broken fingers…

I’ve also got a little arthritis, but it doesn’t hinder me much, yet.
And I definitely prefer slim profiles these days.
In my early days I loved wide at the nut.
Not anymore.
A necks feel great!

I have three Squiers, and they're all good. A 1989 Jazz Standard that we put 7ender Noiseless Vintage pickups in that's better than the lower line 7ender American offerings these days, and two Contemporary Actives, a Jazz and a Precision that's really a PJ. They're both pretty good too, with roasted maple necks. The bottom of Squier's line, the Bullet and Affinity series, are very hit or miss, and can be really bad. Their upper line basses can be outstanding, like the 40th Anniversary models. They're equal to or better than the 7ender Player Series stuff. My drummer works at a store that's a 7ender dealer. He says Squiers get tuned and put in the wall for sale. A larger percentage of the 7ender American stuff has to be taken apart to fix electronics and shim necks.

I'm keeping my Contemporary Actives for places I don't wanna take the Dingwall to play.

an all orange backline automatically adds +200 cool points to any band

Sometimes I forget just how good the 67NR sounds. I played 4 gigs this week(Tuesday, concert band-Ibanez AGB200(UB tone); Wednesday, Big Band; Friday, pickup band; Saturday, regular R&R band-all '67 NR TBird). Got compliments on its sound Wed. and Fri. Regular band knows it.
(That's about how much I'd hafta cut offa the h.s. to get it to fit in most cases)
