I know I will be yanking the stock pups out, but still trying to decide if I should put a set of Eppi ProBuckers in or if I should go with the Gibson Tbird pups. I’m thinking the Eppi might be closer to a vintage bird sound but the Gibby pup we installed in Marshals BaCH sounded quite nice. Any thoughts out there? @godofthunder59 @TBird1958 and any others, feel free to chime in.
I see you play guitar and I do too. Can you play a Bass VI like a guitar with Barre chords and such or are the strings too flabby? I've never played one although I do play Bass chords on my Basses. Just Curious!hmmmm.... I'm thinking of converting my JazzBird to a mudbucker, I had one of those dimarzio model 1's in a pbass some time ago.....
I'm eyeballin the 5 string PRO that's on the reverbs.... I keep pondering going five even though I have no practical use for it....
I am also getting a second bass vi... I really should play bass vi more....

Engle needs to make one like this!

I would definitely buy one for my latest project! What I could do is print a copy-machine 100% copy of it. I think there's still one in the Pacifica library - I used to use it all the time. Let me know Irv if that's something that would help you do a close to exact copy of it.
I can guess Scott says Probuckers and Veronica says Gibsons, but that you can’t go wrong with either. Lollars, Duncan’s, and the other usual suspects all deserve consideration. We already know you need to ever so slightly enlarge the routes for the Gibsons. If any of the others are slightly smaller, I’d consider doing that so as to not have to touch the routes. The BaCH is getting closer…

Nice!
Reminds me of this!
Yahoo Serious, I like to call him Whyso….
I'm anxiously anticipating my Ketchup ...I mean new (to me) Bass too! I'll share with you all once she arrives!
We have some great people in this club!
A little too expensive for my taste! Plus if you turn the crank backwards it sounds like Hendrix.Squier makes good basses too
Probably a safe bet, but ya never know. Each one has had plenty of time with their BaCH basses and each one has a vintage bird to reference the sound on. I’d suspect V to lean towards the still available Lull variant (SD ?) since Lulls appear to be unobtainable now.I can guess Scott says Probuckers and Veronica says Gibsons, but that you can’t go wrong with either. Once the BaCH comes in I’ll know more about how much I’d spend on it. If it looks and feels and plays really nice I wouldn’t hesitate to drop as much money as it takes to get the best sounding pups for it. If Lulls were available I’d consider dropping those in. Does Lull source their Tbird pickups from a builder that will sell identical spec pups to individuals?Gibson RI, SD Custom Shop, Lollar are all good choices. How much money do you want to spend![]()

Just got the email from Epiphone regarding the Thunderbird 64. Love the color selection and the fact that there isn't a terrbacky burpse or black model.
Some may be cleaner.Interesting. Don't know that I've ever seen the underneath of a mudbucker. I wonder if all look similar to that?

I wonder if you (the royal "you") could tell the difference in a mix. Some Lull production is handled by SD (they use TV Jones as well), while they're quite similar, Lulls do sound different than the SD Custom Shop.
