Thunderbird Club

Interesting that a mudbucker cover is a bit larger than the pickup.

I bought a set of the metal knobs from @Ringhammer and they arrived the other day. Installed them on my modified BlackBird for now. The knobs are really well made and Ringhammer was great to deal with. I know he still has another set or two for sale. Hit him up!

Those knobs look nice! Is that pick guard clear or is it black with a white beveled edge?

Why does the T.bird logo on my 2018 look a little different than the other ones I've seen? Is this a known variant or an aberration (aftermarket or otherwise)?

I was reading the Gibson Bass Book and on page 150 they talk about a Short Scale Thunderbird and it has the exact T-Bird logo on the pickguard as the one you posted. Does your pickguard have the pickups routed into the pickguard? Anyway that logo is a legitimate Gibson bird!
I have attached a photo from the Gibson book. Sorry the photos aren’t better but I used my old iPad.

If you play a lot with other musicians, like in rehearsals/gigs/jam-sessions/recording sessions etc.., many factors of the endeavor need to align for an optimal experience and they are not always in your control. Like tonight at our weekly Bond Girl rehearsal - everything felt like it gelled. The overall sound in our space was good, our levels were good, we rested in the grooves fluidly - all & all a very productive rehearsal. But last Tuesday - it felt completely different. The room sound wasn't good, our playing was ok but not great - all & all it was more 'getting through' the material than playing it. Live shows can be like that too - as much as you try to control your sound/performance, sometimes it's out of your control and you have to make the best of it. Luckily as musicians we are our harshest critics - a sub-standard performance to us can be perceived as "you guys were great!" by our audience... I politely thank them, but know better. I guess it's just part of the deal - strive for excellence and stay critical (enough) to work to achieve something close to that "ideal".

2011 Gibson Short Scale. The top was finished in Silverburst and the silver headstock accent was added by a shop in Providence. The pickguard is original.

Still got these antique and bright brass ones:

The ones on the bottom picture are brighter that they look in the pic.
