Yes. Typo on my part. I meant when he was past 27. I have had a couple friends who I worried about when they were 27. Now I have a 27 year old colleague at work who I like, but who needs to turn 28, just to be safe. Me superstitious? Nah. Just careful.

The other scary age is 44. Billie Holliday was one of several who died at 44. I have another friend who turns 42 this year. She's good for a couple years, then I'll be making sure to wrap her in bubble wrap for a year. She needs that wrapper most of the time anyway.

My EB-2 has a Model One, and it is absolutely an amazing combination. I was going to install a Model One at the neck of a Thunderbird, but that's just one more project that hasn't happened just yet. The Flamingo might need that one of these days.

Once the BaCH comes in I’ll know more about how much I’d spend on it. If it looks and feels and plays really nice I wouldn’t hesitate to drop as much money as it takes to get the best sounding pups for it. If Lulls were available I’d consider dropping those in. Does Lull source their Tbird pickups from a builder that will sell identical spec pups to individuals?

Lulls are made by TV Jones and they have an agreement to not sell them publicly.

I almost replied to George’s email with a vid of Blondie’s song “Dreaming.”
The only way to get a Lull Tbird pickup is to get the exact specs and find a custom winder to make one. Even then it would probably still not be the same. There is some kind of magic involved that makes them special. I still recall the chills that went up and down my spine when I cranked Veronica’s Thunderbird with the Lulls in Chucky’s garage through the SVT a couple years ago. It was a religious experience.

I’m long past 27, and 44, but I will say it’s notable that when I was 27, and +/- a year, that was the time when things in SF we’re awesome, ‘92 through’95 or so, and I was having WAY too much “fun”. But I lived through it.

My Mum died at 48 yo, I felt very strange when I hit 48… concerned maybe? I dunno but it was an odd feeling.

The pictures posted of them online just don't do the colors justice, the Inverness green is beautiful, I would have it, but already own 4 green Birds.

Congratulations Mr. Dogs! What a beautiful Thunderbird.

Ordering from SW is the way to roll with new instruments. They have the added two year complementary warranty which means they and their great customer service will take care of you instead of having to deal with the manufacturer. And I found that the guitars and basses I bought from them came setup to the manufacturer recommended specs. I usually tweak the setups for lower action, but they are fine out of the box IME.

I like the green. I think I’ll get one. But I need to off my close to mint Ebony 2017 VP with the original large Wilkinson tuners first. If anyone is interested in it, PM me. If it has to ship, it’ll be on your dime. I have boxes and lots of wrap, so it’ll be packed carefully. I’m open to trying Pirate shipping if that is what you choose. But fair warning. I won’t give it away because of the excellent condition and the more desirable tuners than are on most. I will only sell it because I have a lot of black Thunderbirds, I’m shallow, and I want some more colors in my music room. Oh, and no. I do not know the weight. I believe it to be in the nine pound range. I don’t have a scale.

The orange one? I am deeply, madly in lust with that specific bass. I might even part with the '01 and '15 if it ever came down to it. The Flamingo will be so "personalized" that I would probably have to pay somebody else rather than be able to sell it.
