Because we provide everything (except electricity)-all amps, drums, mics, PA, instruments, etc., we aren't going to schlep all that [stuff] for $0.
As a matter of fact, if we walked into a place that had FOH, a sound "man", and/or a backline, we'd prolly poop ourselves. That just doesn't happen around here.

What doesn't happen much? The sound man or the pooping yourselves?

I feel very fortunate dealing with our Paul who is the guitarist in both BG & TSC. I really like him as a person and as a bandmate/guitarist & composer. Partially because we're both mid-westerners - straight forward salt-of-the-earth types. There's an unspoken affinity there for sure. He's a very generous person and doesn't express the "ego" gene that many guitarist do. And he's very tolerant of my non-schooled playing and helps me on certain parts of his compositions w/o being condescending. That means a lot to me playing in our ensemble/group/band. I've also seen the other side and I really felt uncomfortable in that situation - it starts to feel abusive and I don't want any part of that.

I’ll put up with a lot if the payout is enough. But if a bandmate/co-worker/manager is abusive, it has to be a big payoff (musically, monetarily, whatever). I’ve left jobs that I wouldn’t go back to without at least (in today’s dollars) 2.5 million/year, with each year paid non-refundably in advance. That would never happen, but that’s what it would have taken.

I became a big fan of it when I spent time studying abroad in Britain. There are a half dozen places within five miles of me. I can’t convince anyone to go with me to try them.

I masked and airbrushed the raised headstock inlay black. It was all red. Vintage Gibson’s exhibit both, not surprising as they were a bit of a job shop at the time.

You haven’t lived until you’ve had Carling’s Black Label. It’s smooth and easy drinking, and doubles as a laxative if you have too much of it.

In my cover band, we usually bring everything and get paid.
Assuming I get my heavy originals band going, I expect the gigs to be 1 set at places with FOH, possibly backline and little/no money.

I’ve not tried a 2013 NR yet. What do you like more about it than the later 2021 NR?

hard to explain……like more headroom somehow…. the ‘13 feels more resonant…possibly due to the chunkier neck? dunno….not referring to the electronics as this bass has seen different setups but more how the body/neck feel/play….like you can “sink your teeth” more….
