I recall tuning to E on a piano, then using harmonics. Same on guitar. I never had a pitch pipe or a tuning fork. Beats me if we were ever tuned to A=440 or not. Now, I guess we always are.

Now you have me thinking. Maybe I need to start a movement that A=443. It will upset just about everyone, except for the math rockers; 443 is prime.

Beats me what you just said. Except for the last sentence. I have a Dell laptop that got impossibly slow and just bough a Hewlett Packard desktop to replace it. The HP is a gaming computer even though I don't do any computer gaming. It was a bit more expensive than a more pedestrian computer but everything is much faster and it has a lot more memory. So, it will theoretically last longer than five or six years before it's hopelessly slow.

Point of this story is that my MP3 music file aren't working on the new computer just yet. I don't know why. They did for a while, now they don't. More frustration to overcome.

Have you tried using pliers? Or a hammer? And that is the extent of my computer expertise...

To be clear. You want a USA Foundation. The earlier eighties have the P knobs like mine. They are rare. I've been told that the body on mine is an '86, but that may not be accurate because Peavy supposedly switched to black speed knobs sometime in '86.

Mine was built for Doyle with the older body and the newer thin neck. Peavy was trying to get him to move from 7ender. He didn't really recall how much he used it as he was playing mostly fivers by the time he got it.

If the one you see for $200 has the P knobs, get it. Here's a reverb listing for a set of four that listed for $130. I have seen sellers asking even more than that for them.

saw Glover with one of those on the Perfect Stangers tour in 85(?) in Hollywood FL……sounded REALLY good through the Ampegs…seemed very ergonomically comfortable….

Our Pine Mountain Club HOA BOD elections are coming up. It is real ugly what various factions are saying about one another. Jr. High school type stuff. There are thee positions becoming open. Eight people are running. There is only one person running that I'll vote for. I wish I could cast my six votes (we have two properties) all for him.

Why anyone in their right mind would ever serve on a board like that is beyond me. Life is too short.

I serve on my Condo Corp. BoD (small group of townhouses). The AGM is terrible; owners all want to irrationally bitch about everything (i.e. why don't you do these ten expensive things but make condo fees lower) but won't stand for election. I have been trying to get off the board for years, but keep getting acclaimed as there are no candidates.

I have a late-2011 model that's still kicking, albeit on High Sierra. Having ordered one of the fastest processors at the time and upgrading to 16 G RAM helps as well. Mind you it's a backup which I have used a couple of times when the motherboard of my 2016 MacBook had to be replaced.

Recently I used it to reclaim an older long-disused LaCie 250 GIG external drive which neither my 2016 with OS Catalina or my new 2024 iMac would recognize owing to its older DOS FAT 32 filing system. I couldn't even erase or reformat it with them, but was able to copy and save the files with the 2011 Mac before reformatting it to ExFAT.

Even though it's ten years old, that LaCie is still pretty fast with its Thunderbolt cable.

Anyhow I hate to see things go to waste- it has an impact resistant case with a waterproof seal as well as a USB A cable.

Never mind that have a 256 GIG SanDisk model on my keychain and a Samsung 1 TB T9 that could copy most of my files in less than 20 minutes -

Word to the wise- update the file systems on your smaller external drives lest the rendered unusable and you have to take it to a tech shop to retrieve your data-

I'm still running a 2010 iMac for my music computer because it has firewire and works with my Focusrite interface. I replaced the harddrive with an SSD and stuffed as much ram as I could in it.
The only issue is I can't run modern browsers because I won't update the OS.
I'll probably set up a separate machine for internet and use the old mac for recording only.

Good for you! Unfortunately when I updated to Catalina, I lost the ability to use my Apogee Gio, Mic, and JAM when I updated my iMac and 2016 Mac Book to Catalina. And there's the ten year old Presonus Audiobox interface that won't work with my 2016 MacBook due to the USB C ports, even though the utility software works (something about the USB C to A adapters it doesn't like). However I could still use them with my 2011 MacBook.

What I like about IK Multimedia Interfaces is even the original IRig still works with the later OS and IOS/s.

I had it at the GTG last summer but couldn't really get anyone to try it. It sounds great through the SVT and the Mesas. Rounder to my ear than the average J bass pickup. Less honk. More balls.

I use my iPad Air for everything. Still haven't got it dialed in for recording though. Need an interface.

Chucky I recently had my Fender Princeton re-glassed and re-capped and it sounds great! This thing is perfect for jammin' and small halls. Even sounds good mic'ed. Fender does make great sounding amps.

I have a Fender "Princeton 75" SS guitar amp. Not the same at all I know, but that little sucker is ungodly loud. I've never seen anything like it. As in if you get to 2 on the volume it's too loud at home. On 6 you could gig a arena. On top of that, it sound really good. If it only had tubes.....
