Ok, who got the scoop on Ric replacement pups? I think I need to replace the bridge pup on the Heckinhecker. I live the sound and want to keep it- but I suspect this pup is what the hi-freq buzz is coming from.

I picked up the Peavey Foundation last night. Chuck gave it a thumbs up from a player perspective; however, seeing it in the daylight leaves a lot to be desired. The neck is great, but the body has a lot of scratches and chips.

So, I think this will be my first refinishing project. It's not worth spending money to send it to a pro, so I am going to give it a try myself. Step one will be to strip off the black poly. Any suggestions on the best way (read easy way) to do that? I do have a heat gun if that and a scraper is the way to go. Not sure paint strippers work great on poly.

If heat-gun and scraper - outside and down-wind of the fumes. File the scraper ends round/smooth to avoid gouging. Paint stripper sold in CA is useless. The product that Jeff mentioned is another alternative. I've used somethng like it where once it's coated on whatever is being stripped, you cover it with a gauze-like fabric and let it set overnight. The next day you peel the fabric off which peals the paint off. It's messy, so best to do that outside as well. Then it's sanding with 100, then finer papers/emory cloths until smooth.

Some version of a sealer once fully dry (shellac, sanding-sealer, thinned primer) depending on what finish you are wanting to do, opaque or translucent. Let me know what you plan on doing and I can offer more specific information.

You're lucky to still have your Mom. My Mom passed away in August of 2015. She was 89. I miss her dearly.
