Another reason inertia and laziness are good. We have lived in the same house for more than 35 years now. It has swallowed up plenty of money and work and time, but mortgages slowly disappear over that many years.

I guess our house is probably the retirement plan for the boy and the girl now.

I don't either. And no gigs helped in arriving that that place either. I'd be staying at a shelter if getting paid for playing was a thing. In fact, given all the money I've spent to play, I'm the one paying for me to play. Forget I would play for free. Apparently I will pay a lot just to play.

That's probably true for most of us. Music playing isn't a profit center.

I love The Fixx, great '80s band, they had a couple of really good bassist' the work on "One thing leads to another" is stellar. We recently discussed playing that song so I looked up a YT bass tutorial where the fellow was playing a Wal and really copping it well, needless to say probably above my abilities! '80s was actually a great decade of music, easily my fave, so many cool bands and different styles and influences.

That guy is a really good player and his bass collection is preposterous. If he decides to quit doing cover videos he's still got a couple years of material just shooting reviews/overviews of his basses. I've been watching him for a long time and while he doesn't play a different bass in every single video, you don't see the same ones all that often.

I gunned it hard when he got next to me (one lane over) and gave him a good run until I ran out of top end (4 vs 5 spd manual) and as he's about to pass me, he pulls into the adjacent lane, looked at me and saluted before tearing away…..just one of those really cool moments……when Rosa asked, "why didn't you chase him?" I explained we did really good up against a 4 million dollar car…..

My wife would have been less supportive of high speed enthusiasms than Rosa. You chose wisely in that respect.

Gearing makes a big difference.

As do aerodynamics. An AMX is using horsepower to push a brick through the air in a way the Ferrari isn't.

A new bar for the Shallow set!

I dunno. I have a couple cables for the wireless transmitter because I didn't like the looks of the one Shure provided. So I bought a shorter red one. Then decided it wasn't looking quite right and bought an even shorter braided black one. The transmitter lives on the strap, behind the bass when I play.

Shallowness is the one place I don't have inertia. Well, OK, it suffers from inertia, too. I still haven't got the fretless off to get refinished.

Skyfall
I've seen every bond film multiple times and have all the DVDs. Some I like more than others but in their era contexts all were fun to watch and good entertainment. In retrospect there are a few that stand out as duds (Moon Raker, Octapussy, Quantam of Solace) but there are some all time greats as well (Her Majesty's Secret Service, Gold Finger, Live and Let Die, Thunderball, Diamonds are Forever, Golden Eye, The World is Not Enough, Casino Royale, Skyfall…)

I have never seen a Bond movie in a theater. Which is kinda amazing.
