Today I sold my Thunderbird.

The look was/is incredible. But I’ve only got so much space for a bass that didn’t fit in the mix as well as my PJ and weighted more than Thor’s hammer. Also, I never felt confident with an Epiphone, which is silly, but it’s there.

One day I’ll but another Thunderbird, maybe a Gibson or an Orville, but only when I can justify it’s space in my purposefully modest collection.

I only want to keep instruments I have an emotional connection to. This instrument made me feel sad because it reminded me of a band I was briefly in but quit because the guitarist was a bigoted and homophobic PIS who wouldn’t shut up about his hate for his fellow humans.

So I’m once again Thunderbird-less. One day I’ll rejoin the club, but for now, my membership is on pause.

I've been using a DOD bi-fet pre amp since the 80's to give my sound a boost. Is this similar?

It's one of these, but with true bypass instead of the buffering DOD used:

I purchased it as kit, about $50, but there's veroboard layouts available for the circuit too.

That's very... forgettable... little wonder why J&D were swept into the dustbin of pop music history... they were only "hangin' 8 1/2" - at best. The difference between legit music and pulp novelty.

I'd rather hear The Supremes sing a surf song...

For those that aren't part of the CA scene, the bears that are left in California were the primary prey of the California Grizzly. So, they are genetically programmed to fear things standing on two legs. I still wouldn't stand between mommy and a cub, but there aren't any reports of human attacks. I have seen them go running off crying when hit with paint balls...very sad.

So where are the Grizzlies?

Sorry to hear that but if it ain't working for ya it ain't working for ya. Precisions are great they fit the bill for so many genres. My hippy refin build has been getting a lot of stage time in my Ozzy/ Sabbath tribute
